Corinne, I will do my best in upcoming videos to show my mess of a pallette, lol. It isn't much to look at, trust me, and my color mixing is simply stir a few colors together and hope for the best. If I put it on the canvas and it doesn't look right, I try again. I am not a color expert by any stretch of the imagination.

What sort of trouble do you feel you are having?

Thanks. For acrylics, I typically use Golden Soft Body and Golden Fluid acrylics. For just messing around with other paintings I mostly use something cheaper like Masters Choice or another big box store brand.

I always use a graphite pencil to sketch on the canvas. I will use reference photos to make sure I'm getting things in the proper place. Once I'm satisfied with the sketch, I paint directly over the pencil drawing.

Elizabeth, thanks for reaching out to me. I will admit up front that I have not used some of the colors you have there, but I think we can come up with something that will work. My dark green colors are really just sap green mixed with varying amounts of raw umber and black to create different values of it. Whatever green you have, or mix to make a green I think can be combined with burnt umber and varying amounts of blues and reds to achieve the same thing. I really just painted my entire background with the dark green mixes, adding in some yellows to lighten areas in the trees. The water below the trees is really the same colors just using horizontal brush strokes. Then once it is dry I went with a thinned out glaze to create the water effect. You can take white, maybe small amounts of blue and black to grey it out some, and thin it with a medium or water if its acrylic. Get it thin and transparent to glaze over the darker water background to create the reflection effects. I don't really have a specific color mix I use on paintings like this, it is mostly just trial and error until I get something I like the looks of.
