I very much appreciate the jumpcut style - its like a full recording, but cuts out any super downtime parts and I imagine makes it so you can take the game at your own pace and dont feel pressured to rush or be entertaining constantly.

blues are under powered

the serpents are by far the worst enemies in this game. they only show up twice, but the mechanics for them are just wonky. your suppose to feint it and when its doing its lunge to grab your minions, you can jump minions on its head, the biggest issue is its one of the enemies in the game that is guaranteed to kill some minions without any chance of saving them, right after you get your blue medics. even fighting them perfectly youll probably lose a few minions. i do agree, greens are the best, DPS for the win. glad to see by the end of this video you figured out that longevity in your minions is nice because of equipment. you dont wanna have to farm for equipment. which you dont have to get from the arena, if you just find and break boxes in the overworld theyll drop equipment. dont worry about absolutely maxing your combat power (maximum of 400%) as gear is determined by area, of which you still have 2 more biomes to find. the best equipment is dropped from boxes in the last area of the game but you can pick up enemy weapons and armor which is always nice because higher level enemies drop higher level armor.

A note on the armours, you might have noticed two empty slots for "forges" in the forge room, those evidently will be acquired later, and do visually improve the look of the Overlord. Minion sacrifices add a bit of a glow effect, stronger with more minions. Corruption/less corruption also influences the look with time, such as horns growing out of your shoulders. Keep up the good work!

I don't recommend farming the dungeon until you have at least 40 minions in your crew. You will really struggle otherwise. The beetles are the easiest to kill in terms of soul efficiency. Also if you do the village DLC, you'll get something that helps with your farming, just saying!

I love watching the series, and you've learned a lot from the first episode. You still have a lot to learn, though. Keep it up and explore a bit more. They hide relics to upgrade your mana, health, and minion count. Everywhere. Plus, you'll want to find the second and third forges. Thwy give you better gear and it looks different.

Played the demo of this in the local game shop. Could never afford it then when i finally could my 360 wouldn't play the disc 😂 So I'm thoroughly enjoying this

This is awesome lol, the section where u get blues is probably the worst of the game for me. Since they aren’t fighters the game requires that you master strategy and problem solve to figure out how to best use them. That’s not to say that you can’t just throw them at any obstacle, but the game tends to punish you through a painful and sometimes slow experience for doing so… painful and slow… that basically sums up my first playthrough 😅 Their tutorial isn’t over yet though, I’ll let you figure it out. I will tell you that a unique trait of blue minions is their ability not only to be resistant to water but also resistance to magical attacks and debuffs. (Some magical enemies deal physical dmg so careful where) Also, don’t worry about arena, it’s usually endgame. With only one of the end game weapons semi upgraded, you’ll be able to single-handedly destroy all those arena beetles :P

Dungeon Arena is pretty unbalanced the best way to farm there is have mostly green and red ones with one or two blue for reviving, then you put all of your minions at the edge of the arena and bait one by one creature with yourself then run back to your minions

the eggs and bomb can be used to distract or blow up things, to do it you just have to target lock a bomb/egg then send one minion and then you can guide the minion where you want

It's finally time for me, the world's biggest overlord 1 Blues hater, to make my comment! Blues are fantastic in 2 but are (in my opinion) garbage in 1 for a few reasons and you'll need to work around them to use them at all. First of all you will soon notice there are a LOT of enemies pretty damn soon that both crush or explode minions and when they die like that you CAN NOT REVIVE like the green that got crushed by the boar. They have a habit of walking right past bodies if they aren't on a marker. They can damage magical enemies which is cool but you have seen the only two magical enemies in this game- whisps which only appear in that cave iirc and the elf ghosts. Overlord 2 fixed them by giving them another couple abilities I won't spoil but the biggest buff is minions blow up waaaaaay less, they are all twice as fast at least, and targeting is better. Anyways make sure blues are on markers (which you are already doing). They seem op but if your browns die faster than they can revive all your blues will go to grab the bodies and die as well. IF you try to rely on them you're not going to have a good time. The second half of the game will have your entire squad of minions dying in half a second. To counter this somewhat try to make sure to keep sweeping your minions away from explosives/ stomps. Yeah like I said in the last comment the forge you get is steel, which is what you already have so upgrading is the most effective so you wouldn't have to waste 2500 gold. They should have given you rags to begin with or something but either way it's fixed in the second game. You'll get an item not too far off that doubles the amount of lifeforce you get so if you feel like minmaxing the best end game stuff you can use it to grind beetles. I find the best way to grind beetles is to get a shit ton of browns. kite a few. and then bum rush them. During the fight with the serpent the strategy that it "wanted "you to do was to put blues on the left little island and toss a bunch of browns on the serpents head after baiting it. The serpent would shake them off and the minions that fell in the water would be revived. That, or you use your minion spell and chuck browns at it, then pull them back before it shakes them off and you kill it in like 2 goes. I like how the game treats some combat like a puzzle, it's just the minions don't always cooperate to help this. Ok enough yapping I hope a fellow based green enjoyer has fun, after Oberon is a fairly big difficulty spike so get ready!
