It took me a long time to get into Blue Oyster Cult, but when I did, it caught like wildfire. They’re a top 5 all time band for me now.

I can't tell you how grateful I have been for your deep BOC dive. In high school they were right there with Led Zep, Sabbath, and Pink Floyd for me. Secret Treaties was my favorite album. 'Harvester of Eyes' is a strange but great trip.

Been listening to them since the first album in 72. Saw them in 74 and many times since. The newest album, The Symbol Remains is excellent! Richie Castellano is an excellent guitarist as well, plus keyboard player. Buck Dharma is 75 years young and hasn't lost a thing. Never enough BOC! Albert Bouchard was the original drummer, long out of the band. His brother Joe, the bass player at the time, sang this one and wrote it.

A buddy said something like "There's this band playing at the Long Beach Arena, Blue Oyster Cult." I'd never heard of them, but the tickets were only $4.50! (This was a long time ago!) I went and got blown away, and I've been a fan ever since.

Chod, the absolute best version of this song(as well as many others) is on the double live album "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees". You might also enjoy "(Then Came the)Last Days of May", "Cities On Flame", "Subhuman", "Born To Be Wild", etc... ✌️ ☮️ 🇱🇷🎸🎵🎶🎼

Great review Chod! So glad you get these guys. Not many people do. If you only listened to Don't Fear The Reaper and Godzilla you wouldn't know this band at all. And yes, the drums are always brilliant.

I just realized, you as a drummer, would definitely appreciate Mr. Albert Bouchard's drumming in this release's opener "The Red & The Black". You won't even recognize this as the same group song you just reacted to, "Redeemed".

Great, raging track and even better live, saw it point blank a bunch of times. Try it from On Your Feet Or On Your Knees, their classic live album from the early 70s. Killer BOC, as rocking as they get. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

Chod, you've reacted to so many songs from the black & white trilogy that you owe it to yourself to start doing album sides so you can experience the segues. This song seemlesly segues into Seven Screaming Dizbusters that you've reacted to previously. Each side of their 1st three albums is a cohesive work. Your reactions would be 1st reaction to the album side!

Great reaction, Chod.. This song is sort of proto speed metal for it's time in 1973.. very heavy with a metallic edge. Another one of those album sides where the songs flow into the next, hence the abrupt beginning. If you listen to "OD'd On Life Itself",(which you've already reacted to), the ending flows directly into " Hot Rails To Hell", for the full impact. Then into "7 Screaming Diz-Busters ", which you have also reacted to.. Awesome of you for nearly completing this pre heavy Metal masterpiece.. "Teen Archer" awaits.. and I'm not sure if you've done "Wings Wetted Down".. thanks.
