Matt Baker from Blue Peter takes part in the Potential Royal Marines Course. All potential recruits must pass this 4 day test to achieve a place on the 32 week Royal Marine Recruit Training Course at Lympstone in Devon.
Anyone who is willing to pick a weapon and fight for their country deserves the utmost respect. They are not slaves of the Queen, they volunteer to serve. Just as you volunteer to become any other service/employee.
to be fair he's been babysat through the assault course and the like.you wouldnt have them calling you by your first name etc. you will get friendly with you section commanders toward the end of the course and will probably shoot the shit with them,go for a few beers etc, but the fear of your superiors has a lot to do with your adrenaline to get it right and not stand out as a mong etc. just watchin this i get a buzz in my gut i had in the army.good stuff
what you lot of doubters don't understand is that the Royal Marines do not look for super fit men ,that can be attained during the 30 weeks of Commando training , they look for for someone who will give 100% at all times and be a team player and follow the commando ethos and principles . No better career in any of the armed forces . OAMAAM .
the stuff they do in the evenings is what we had to do at raliegh. they woke us up at 5:45 and we didn't go to bed until 11:00 that night. this was at devon district drill at south west area we were up at 5:15, that was funny though "a boom boom boom let me hear you wey oh." annoyed everyone
the time table 4 it's changed now 3 miler then swimming then gym test 1 then high asualt course then gym 2 and the determenation test's... or somthing like that
thats actually the same plan as me but believe me you'll be pressing for time if u wanna work out everyday and also keep up wiv ur studies if your up for the task then the reward is excellent i had to get a multi gym because i couldnt afford or didnt have the time to visit a gym
thats nothing like the prmc now, i did mine last week. They have added in the 4 mile run back from the endurance course and then you have to camp out. Its hard but worth it :)
agreed, this makes prmc look easy and its done differently now, if you watch the full video it says he got a run time of 24mins.....thats an instant fail as you need under 23 strictly.
He got level 9 on the bleep test... either standards were lower back in the day or they went easy on him. Still, overall he did well. And the PTIs on here are more errrr gentle than I've experienced
@BeTheBe5t I dont know, this is only the PRMC. Another BP presenter tried to do the 30mile dartmoor run and trailed well behind. It just bigs up the 'eliteness' of the regiment. Im going to join the royal marines AS SOON as iv sorted out this problem with my hearing at the moment :@ its a kick in the balls it really is
that was nothing like PRMC...Just passed mine!! :D:D but he wouldnt have passed in a million years, his run time was shit. and its done in a different order now
haha i remember when i did PRMC in 09, was that fucking nervous i didnt sleep, was in the grots closest to the training teams office n showers and had a top bunk, was squeeky as FUCK
mr.timmy we all know mr.badboy aint all that smart and we excuse him for not picking a book and reading but you dont have to drop to his level... i read their booklet as well dont prove points to walls, its pointless... cheers...
