Blue Reminiscence from Teresa Teng’s Suite
"Blue," in English, refers to a subtle sense of melancholy and a touch of resignation. The legendary songstress Teresa Teng is often regarded as having a golden and illustrious life. However, composer Naizhong Guan, who had personal insight into Teresa Teng, saw beyond her dazzling aura of success and recognized a faintly melancholic blue halo surrounding her. This is also why Teresa Teng's singing has always touched people's hearts. The composer transformed well-known songs sung by Teresa Teng, such as "The Homecoming Song," "Small Town Story," "Goodbye, My Love," "The Moon Represents My Heart," and "Thousands of Words," into a Chinese orchestral performance titled "Blue Reminiscence." Through this adaptation, he expresses the melancholy beneath Teresa Teng's sweet voice and pays tribute to the countless fans who continue to miss their beloved Queen of Song.
