I got myself the Trek Marlin 8 yesterday, watching you do those awesome trails makes me really jealous. Hoping to get better weather for it here in Scotland. Thanks for sharing and please post more. Amazing trails, stay safe. 👍👌
Just picked up a Marlin 8 Gen 2 from Red Barn after not riding for nearly 15 years, got it put together and have ridden it a few times around town....makes me feel like a kid again, jumping curbs and zooming around, just super out of shape now :). Would love to hit trails and learn how to actually mountain bike, not having explored outside the city/suburbs too much without driving at the time. Its been hard to find good vids of people showcasing what the bike is capable of/just out having a good time. Know this video is old, but thanks for the inspiring and quality content
I have a Marlin 8 2nd gen. I bought a dropper post and surprise! You can't insert the cable from the bottom into the seat tube! Is there a way? Mam Marlina 8 2. gen. Kupiłem sztycę opuszczaną i tu niespodzianka! Nie można włożyć linki od dołu do rury podsiodłowej! Czy istnieje jakiś sposób?
Thanks for the comment and feedback! Id probably give it a 9/10 overall. The only reason I don't give it a 10/10 is there were quite a few adjustments I had to make in regards to the derailleur when I first purchased- but that may be an assembly issue not a bike quality issue. Also the seat doesn't go as low as I'd like but that's something the bike shop can fix once I take her back. I'm happy with the purchase and overall performance. My buddy in the vid has a Giant, not sure the exact model but it is also a very good bike.
Hi i have a marlin 8.. just want to know, if i drive in trail not in Stones etc.. just in trail ways.. The bike gonna get hard dangers or? It's my fIrst Trail MTB. Just want to know so i do not get hard dangers on The bike... Anyone ho have drived much MTB?
Great bike, I have one.. My suggestion to take this bike to the next level is to upgrade the Shifter, Derailer and Chain to GX. It was night and day difference for me, so much smoother. followed by wider handle bar and shorter stem.. But yeah amazing bike for the price. :)
Will the gx crankset swap straight over as well? Can get a good discount on the bike itself, just under £800 so was thinking of upgrading all to the gx. Maybe even the x01 shifter derailleur etc but at least the cassette for the gx would be nice
I can hear those cables wrattling over the roots & bumps- my only critism of the Marlins- Ive got a Marlin 8 & apart from that its a fantastic bike!👍i hope to fix those cables wrattling
Okay so, idk if u know this bike but , this one compared to the specialized rockhopper 29 / comp. The price is a lot difference, but the bikes, are their difference big as the price is?
I have no complaints yet. One issue I did have is the seat not going down as low as I'd like but I think I'll be able to fix that next time I take it to the bike shop. Overall pleased with the purchase.
@@fr00bers thanks alot for your reply. The reason I'm asking cause I've ordered one and should get it pretty soon. Was thinking to save some money and get the Marlin 6 instead which now comes with 1x10 deore drive train but again has a lower end fork, tyres, and ain't tuneless and to upgrade those I would have to spend as much as the Marlin 8. There isn't that much of a difference in price between the Marlin 7 & 8 anyway. I think Marlin 8 would be the right option after all.
@@jimjim7008 I may be wrong on this since they change parts and offerings so much lately, but the shifter on the Marlin 8 is Sram which is considered better than the entry level shimano offered on the Marlin 6. Overall I think if you go with Trek it'll be a good bike either way.
IMPORTANT I have bought same bike and noticed while riding on highest gear and pedaling backwards, chain is hitting frame.. it's very annoying.. this bike is new it shouldn't happen. Do you have same problem? Please answer.
im buying the same bike but M/L and my only dislike abt this bike is the sram gset it looks like generic i’ve never seen this type of sram but yeah great bike and im definitely gonna change the shimano brakes to xt deore and some skinwall tires
