I live in Virginia, near Fancy Gap. I am in Hillsville, Mother grew up near Mabry Mill. No toll roads here, that is back in Richmond area and toward the ocean!!! Virginia parkway is cooler, whereas the North Carolina side in Hot and muggy. Enjoy with caution, and respect!!!!
Well, it's a National Park Service campground, so yeah, the roads & facilities are not gonna be at an RV 'resort' level, for $20 a night. But that's what you go there for.
Oh ya, Not complaining, but I want to let people know that if they bring that $280,000 50ft rig, they may be in trouble or it may get a ding or scratch.
@@GoingNoWhereFast Totally. That's why our RV is less than 10 ft high, and a shade under 20 ft long. Blue Ridge Pkwy tunnels would be a nightmare for some of those rigs!
Wow, $1 per day, he must have been a supervisor. I was there when they finished the Linville Viaduct. It was so cool. But its one very slow route in august and September... There is a lot of road rage on the parkway !! LOL Thanks for the comment
I think they maybe planning on paving them this year after the season. They did pave the A-loop last year. But those showers are really nice when your ready to need one !!
Loopy De Lou! LOL! Lot a loopin in this one. Took a trip years ago thru the B/R Parkway with my parents was blown away by it's beauty! Nice cruise Rick Thanks
I had my Mountain bike on the back, if that's what your talking about. I was going to ride down Beech Mountain, but they wouldn't let me. So I went riding by myself and possibly broke my femur in a major crash. Probably won't be riding again for a few weeks at least !!
Yes that is what I was referring to. I enjoy biking but I'm not brave enough to ride in the mountains !! Thats why I asked. Sorry to hear about youe injuries.
Looking for a new route between family in Florida and St. Louis, I tried going up through the Carolinas and across the smokies on I40. This April I was told that the Parkway wa closed in many places. Next trip, I hope to travel part of it. This looks like a great place to stay with my Aliner. Thank you!
The Linville Viaduct was closed in April. It was the first bit of resurfacing and repair they have done on it since they built it in 1978. So it needed it and they did a good job. To my knowledge the entire section in NC is open. Virginia is the Skyline Drive and is toll. That will never be an area I review.. LOL And yes, lots of great places to Aliner and then explore the areas within 50 miles... Keep watching and I'll show you what was just around this area !!
One of my favorite place I have ever been. Went all the way through . Virginia wasn't a toll road at the time. I loved it Stayed in Blowing Rock couple of days.
I guess only the relatively short section of the Skyline Drive is toll. From I-64 south it is free. When I was there 3 years ago it was very tick populated.. spent a good part of the evening picking them off my boys !
People are bored, and they want to interact with others. Social media takes many forms, and video allows for a full expression of thought and experience. Its good ! Thanks for the comment !
Some people are bathroom people, some people deny every having to go !! LOL... either way, its a big part of the cost !! So I'm showing you what you pay for !! Part 2 maybe the best, coming up next ! Thanks for the comment.
Rick, did you have Dakota with you? And you mentioned that 1 site was no pets? What is the pet policy down there in NC? I know in NY, its pets everywhere unless otherwise specified. Here in PA where I live now, its pets only IF specified. And with 2 gsds, we can only go to state parks or boondocking as the private places all discriminate against our "vicious" dogs. 😉🤔
No, Dakota wanted to stay with his girl friend. And I wanted to ride my bike. So I went alone. Ya, there were sites in the campground that were stipulated "Tent Only" or "RV only" and a few were "No Pets". And I don't remember why, but I thin k because they were next to a major trail, or the swimming area, or some reason. The campground is "Pet Friendly", and there were plenty of dogs there. Ya.. PA Has some wierd ideas about having "Dog areas" in their campgrounds. Since my dogs are so well behaved (They never bark unless told to) I just don't mention that they are with me. We usually are gone from the campground from sunup to sunset. So its not easy to tell if I have mine. But they are very well trained, better than most Police K9's. Thanks for the comments
