The summit of Sharp Top Mountain is breathtaking. Not only do you have 360 degree panoramic views of the Peaks of Otter (including the other two peaks, Flat Top and Harkening Hill), but you can see Piedmont to the east and the Allegheny Mountains to the west. Located off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford, Virginia, the Sharp Top summit is 3,875 feet with an elevation gain of 1340 feet. You can hike up to it via a 3 mile round trip out and back or take a bus shuttle (which we didn't use). This was probably one of our favorite Blue Ridge Parkway hikes on this trip.
This is the fourth episode of our Appalachian Mountain series where we took a two week road trip from Shenandoah National Park down the Blue Ridge Parkway and explored the Great Smoky Mountains. From hiking various portions of the Appalachian Trail up to summits and balds, to exploring majestic waterfalls and bluffs and historical mills and cabins deep within Appalachia, we definitely enjoyed seeing the beauty of America's National Parks.

Now the is the type of hike I would enjoy doing! I like how they made it easier by adding stairs. I did a hike in the Grand Canyon a few weeks ago, which was like wow lol got to edit that video soon!

Thank you very much for your kind words Bobby. We’re trying to show people what we’re doing in hopes that maybe they’ll do it one day too, there’s just so much stuff out there that you just can’t keep to yourself, you know? In other news, I am about to arrive in Detroit to see a friend on a massive road trip, any things I should make sure I do?

Question for anyone who has done this hike before: How long did it take you to get to the top? I am planning on hiking this to catch sunrise in a couple weeks, and need to figure out the timing of it all...
@MagellanandGreyhound
@MagellanandGreyhound 3 года назад
Obviously all depends on your hiking ability, but I'd say two hours should be more than enough time. It is not far, but it is very steep
