This is my latest project to be completed in the weathering studios - a commission from the Bluebell Railway Shop at Sheffield Park for their fledgling layout.
The "Crompton" and block tanker train will be making its public debut at the Bluebell Railway's excellent model event this weekend: 2nd - 3rd July:

The loco is none other than 33052 "Ashford" (D6570) - the latest locomotive to be acquired by the Sussex based preserved railway where it is currently undergoing restoration.
This Heljan OO Gauge model has been backdated to a typically grubby 1980's condition to haul a rake of sixteen TTA ICI methanol tank wagons. Each wagon has been renumbered into a unique identity and each given varying degrees of weathering for a natural overall look.
We studied numerous photos of methanol tankers from the period, and because methanol evaporates relatively quickly, they weathered in a different way to TTA's that carried sticky heavy, oils or petroleum.
A Train Tech automatic flashing tail light was discretely fitted to the end vehicle along with bufferbeam details to finish the consist off nicely.
