It’s a disgrace that they we’re not given credit in America how wonderful they we’re & talented if it wasn’t for the blues there wouldn’t have been any music in America.
Thank you so much. I'm a 75 year old man siting in the Thai jungle watching my old turf on a computer screen. I am an artist and I have many fond memories of Laguna Beach and the art scene in the 60s. My first memories of it were Sunday rides n the family car in the 50's and waving to the Greeter. It's changed a lot but it's still shines like a diamond. Nice work.
Your from southern California and your 75 if you don't mind me asking. What year you ended up where you wrote this from never mind ou woul would of have been there since you were 35 years old to know any thing about What we go from there back in 77 78 79 in the bay area Buddha-tie
I was going to ask how long you been sitting in the Thailand jungle but you wouldent know what I'm talking about you would have to have been there since you were 35. To know any thing about some of he best smoke to cross the salt back n 77 78 79 Buddha tie or the Good brown sticks that came to the bay area tell storys about this to some of the new age legal growers over here younger generation ( famaly ) they all say I'm making it up Kona sugar ,buddha-Thi, Mohogany, from some were in Africa real Panama red,And real Columbia Gold ,real east bay skunk bud. Evidently all these growers grow some good yesca but have never heard of it now I hear they are starting to grow legal over there as well now
When they got to the UK, they met audiences that more than made up for their treatment in their home country. They were loved, adored, revered, And I bet you a penny to a pinch of brown stuff every single person at that show remembers them with fondness - even if they are no longer with us.
True I left the USA to study in Vienna for 2 years in the early 60’s. The Brits we’re discovering this music and never looked back. James Baldwin often came to Vienna when he was living in Paris. I knew 😢those moments with him at our usual cafe were special. Later in the 60’s I witnessed more fine blues moments when working at the Fillmore West. Bill always packed the mid week with this blues greats. 🪢 If one could pause from being overwhelmed by the political dynamics of neighborhoods like Hunter’s Point and what remained of the Fillmore after Urban Renewal, San Francisco could be a jewel. I taught in those neighborhoods and had to draw on my exposure to the darker side of life as a child growing up in New York City. 🪬…. None of us expected to survive into the eve of 2033, which my 78th birthday in sight. We never anticipated fake news outside of Orwell’s 1984… which seemed light years away. And here we are…. the naive dreams of “integration” and ban the Bomb being bludgeoned by mass shootings and a resurgence Russian Imperialism. As that sophomoric folk song Blow’in in the Wind cried… when will we ever learn? ⛩🔥⛩ I cope by Listening to this music, which offer respite and renews the soul for the next round 🗿🗿of absurdity !

I saw this guys when they toured in United Kingdom on a 'Blues Bus' they were amazed at the love and appreciation they got at the shows. Fabulous memories thank you.
What a wonderful presentation.Blues is my all time food.I am glad that I switched on this channel.I've stayed with these STARS all my life time.Thank you.
John Lee Hooker Sonny Terry and Brownie MacGee,Mississippi Blues you name them.Stacks of albums I have in my house but this show is just phenomenal to watch!!!
@@summerislander4672 we got to see Howling Wolf on the big stage in London also earlier that year (1964). Lightnin' Hopkins was there too. The thrill was to see Blind Gary Davis and Sonny Terry together at another concert. That was quite a year.
@@markantrobus8782 I would have loved to have seen Howlin Wolf live. Its a shame there only seems to be 2 of his songs captured of him performing. Glad you can hang on to such treasured memories!
Sonnyboy would play those harps that are an octave lower than are usually played. That’s how he gets those raspy low notes. It takes so much breath to affect. That’s where his hidden breathing puts him a big cut above other players. He probably smoked Lucky’s Strikes because “they don’t get your wind.” 😅

Thank you very much!!!
Saw most of these great guys back in Croydon, Uk back around 1969 They more I listen to them they more I adore them, their talent is unmesurable in the all self-taught instruction
What we hear on the radio and on streaming services today is not music like this is music... no auto-tune, no processing, just a live performance, no edits, no retakes, playing studio-perfect!!! THIS IS MUSIC!!! SHOW YOUR CHILDREN, REMEMBER THIS, BACK WHEN WE HAD REAL MUSIC!!!
Sonnyboy steals the show! All of these guys are sublime but he's unforgettable, there's almost an erie atmosphere about him, such presence! And what virtuosity!!!
@@darcykelly7515 There were two Sonny Boy Williamsons. The first one may have played with Robert Johnson, but this one, whose given name was Rice Miller, I don't think he played with RJ.
@@1blastman G'Day, I just rechecked on the dodgynet and found articles that say it was Sonny boy Williamson II but who knows?I know I don't know I wasn't there but I can imagine it pretty easily.I do know that I love both RJ's and SBW II's music more than most, They're right up there with Blind Willie Johnson.
@@darcykelly7515 We are in agreement about loving both RJ and SBW. Blind Willie is in that rare air also. his call and response with his first wife, Willie B Harris in "John The Revelator" might be one of the greatest blues\gospel songs of all time.
Damn man this is amazing even for 360p. I had this HD version back in 2010. Sadly, my laptop got stolen with its 500GB worth of historical music from East to West 😭
Im quite sure that ive seen a better version not too long ago. But the quality of the sound is good and im not into the physical appearance of black men so im happy.
Soul of blues what an amazing hero And the energy and how well.he has mastered that little and great instrument Called harmonica no words left to praise This gentleman
Unbelievable footage; unbelievable! So cool. I cherished the cassettes that I have all of these musicians on in the 20th century. And now it's like I get to see them in concert.
I wasn't old enough to be allowed to go to the '63 tour, but I saw the '65 and a few after, got a program for one from the DeMontfort Hall in Leicester, great memories.
I caught the end of this action in the mid 70s in a little bar on 15th St. off of Irving Place in New York City couldn't hold 100 people, all of them showed up to play big Joe Williams, big Joe Turner., Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins Sonny boy Williamson, and Buster Poindexter!
A slice of history! The stooping Sonny Boy complete with two tone suit, bowler & brolly. Junior Wells - what is he like? Michael Jackson eat your heart out!
you forget the king of slide , Elmore James . I am brasiliam , but I am so sure abou t that. Nice to meet you. DELTA BLUES , THE STARTING AND BEGINING.
My Man!!!! Sonny Boy Williamson ❤️🔥💋wow!!!!! MUDDY WATERS Alabama Blues, Alabama This is priceless!!!!!! Big Joe Williams, play for me!! Woww!!! Sing it, baby doll. Strut your stuff!!! This is the real stuff. No bluffing, no!!! A hobo train, ride on! Patin' my feet, blues for me, Mercy Smilin' I is I am a runaway child rock My grandpa taught me the blues Black Cotton taught me to dance when I was Lil girl in Pigtails with his harmonica in his mouth. Jr. Wells, rock. Thank you for this!!! It has made my day for sure
This is totally & completely FANTASTIC!!! Someone said "priceless" and that's an understatement. This unique piece of musical history is also a perfect showcase in where Rock, both modern & classical, originated - These late & great BLUES Legends, all members of the Best of Best in BLUES, though many of the Blues Artists here were way past their career's prime even here.. yet their performances are FLAWLESS - IMO I don't believe anyone can be taught the Blues because you're either born with the feeling or you're not however this gem should be used as an educational & historical piece in Music Universities and other Musical tuition institutions worldwide explaining of how the CORE of Big City Blues should be played regarding the specific type of discipline, concentration and tightness required to get it right
i agree absolutley - i'm over 50 years old but every time i hear this music i feel like twenty - i am austrian in vienna - we are used to classic (Mozart,Stauss etc.) but this is outstanding - i love this outstanding impressions in the face of lightnin hopkins - and i grab my guitar (wich one of the ten :-))
Without the Rolling Stones and other British bands Americans would never have heard of these people. Howlin’ Wolf’s only appearance on mainstream TV was when the Stones wouldn’t appear on one show unless Wolf was their guest artist.
Fabulous collection in this Tour, JRSC totally is proud of this University of the Blues. We just wish Love and understanding and appreciation of each other. This is also the history of a cultural inspiration for the planet. Jamaica Rolling Stones Camp est 1965. Only love will Win✌️💕🌟👽😎🌴🌴🌴🌴🎨🥁🥁🥁🎸🎸🎸🎷🚐🐻🎪🍀
Grandes y finos conciertos que ahora ya no hay 😢pero gracias a Dios los tenemos grandes autores y finos originales gracias por sus repertorios y hermosos recuerdos de blues 👍🏁
Wonderful! I've been listening to highlights from these tours for more than 30 years, but this is the first time I have seen them. Like the two beauties in the audience at 12:08 during the Lonnie Johnson number!
