I suppose all the people that think you need a $10,000 rig to sound good have never heard of Jack Pearson. When I saw that he was playing a Squire I just laughed and shook my head. What a humble dude.

Yarg. If the frets fret, the pickups pick up and the tuners tune... a straight neck helps. When the Telecaster came out, the 'legendary' Broadcaster, nocaster etc. - they were made as cheap as Leo could figure out.

I’ve been watching him for years, I think the secret to his sound is he lets the string vibrate more than anyone else I’ve seen. Such a light touch and I think lighter strings than a lot of people use

It's when Jack says "I've been playing for 40 years" and I think: hell! I've been playing for 30 and I ain't fit to tie his bootlaces. Got me beat hollow on being a beautiful human being too. What a great advertisment for music.

Inspiring and humbling to watch. One of the best players I’ve ever heard. One of the few players, Derek Trucks is another, who can be really busy on the fingerboard and not lose touch or feel. I could listen to either of them for hours.

I love that he uses a squire. What's more, he didn't replace the electronics, including the pickups. It's *not* just that the tone is in the players hands, but also that CNC manufacturing has leveled the playing field. This was made clear to me in the beginning in two ways. First, I knew a guy who was a guitar tech/builder. He'd demonstrated how a PRS he worked on wasn't any better than another guitar he had handled that was less than 1,000. The only difference was the hardware. The second was a guitar player I was in a band with. I was playing a Mexican 50s tele, his was a Fender Custom Shop tele. Mine vibrated like mad, was lively and dynamic. It played very smoothly and without much resistance. His was dull sounding, just dead and played very stiffly. He acknowledged it, but wasn't happy about it. As he said, he paid a lot more for his guitar, and it wasn't nearly as nice as mine. Not that all Fender CS guitars are like that. I'm sure some are great. But guitars are hit and miss, but CNC has made all guitars more consistent. I've owned US G&L, US and Mexican Fender, Glaser, Zion, ESP (Japan), Schecter (Dallas). But the nicest guitar I ever owned was a Reverend Buckshot from when they first began making them overseas. My point? It's pure delusion to think that you have to spend one, two, three thousand or more to get a quality guitar.

So many great takeaways from a world class guitarist. Notice he's playing a Squier Strat, a Fender Blues Jr. and an MXR OD pedal. It's in your fingers, in your heart, in your soul, NOT in your gear!

LearnandMaster... im not sure if Jack Pearson ever tried compression wraps for his wrist on his fretting hand , witch the pain could be from carpal tunnel !! one of my old Bass players uses a compression wrap for his wrist and he told me it works great and he plays with his thumb behind the neck like a classical guitarist but on his bass so that could be painful when not wearing the brace .. anyways I love the way Jack plays just amazing !!! thanx for sharing the video with everyone =)
