There you have it folks.... Bobby Sheehan defining how to play bass. Unbelievable bass player. Anyone who knows anything about playing bass will tell you how amazing this performance is. Man, he is sorely missed.
@@Steubenville_PoPo Disrespectful? What are you talking about? John Popper IS an amazing harmonica player, but there are other amazing musicians in the band, like Bobby Sheehan. This particular performance by him is insanely good. RIP Bobby Sheehan
@@Steubenville_PoPo What a silly comment. Why couldn't someone give this fantastic bass player a compliment. It's a band you know, not everything is about John Popper, who ofcourse is one of the best harmonica players ever, doesn't mean his fellow band members aren't cool either.
Back in the 90s, we serviced John's Jeep when he lived in Quakertown Bucks County, Pa. We got on the subject of Stevie Ray Vaughn, and then Hendrix. John told me how much he loved Hendrix. John was always great to talk with.
Great Band! Just saw Kingpin....never heard of these guys! Amazing bassplayer, amazing harmonicaplayer ....what a solo!!!! I'm gonna check them out....Just love this band..!!!
FrustratedNameSearch At least he got to play bass here. Their first Letterman appearance was just John and Chan playing w/WMDB. Second time, Bobby played acoustic guitar 'cause Will Lee wouldn't give it up.
Stevie Wonder and John Popper are my favorite Harmonica players. Stevie is killer on chromatic and popper kills the blues. I didn't realize this song was that old until recently, they really killed it with this track.
They probably exist, but Popper was the first person I ever heard play the harmonica so precise and fast, yet intentional. It doesn't even sound like the harmonica I was used to hearing. Most people hit multiple notes which don't necessarily go together, all sloppily, but it is like popper plays the harmonica like a saxophone.
They weren't the same after releasing 4. They made their deal with the devil for money, and it showed in the cover of that album. Gone was the increasingly ambitious ideas and the thoughtful lyrics. 4 wasn't terrible, but it did not build upon what had gone before as the other three had. Perhaps Bobby was the soul of the band, which is why he could not abide the direction it had taken. Or perhaps I look too deeply into something that once meant so much to me.
Bobby Sheehan is one of the most underrated bass player in music. Sad he died so early in life. I agree that Popper didn't come ready to preform in this video. The bass line in this song will always be memorable.
A local station played side 1 of their first album at midnight way back in the day. They were on my radar after that and when the same station played the same side again I knew I had to buy the album. It's weird, but knowing there are these kind of people out there doing their thing makes the world seem a more inviting place and encourages you to do your thing as well. I picked up on a scene for the first time in my life, and it was a special part of my life.
To be honest, almost the entire song is a bass solo. He is probably the most impressive musician during this number, but the TV show doesn't seem to care.
JOHN rocks this thing it is a known FACT! he is the best harp player in the history of the world he plays like 2 munites straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u go john good luck on ur next consert ill try to make it there (= your fan evan
Ohh, I love the harmonica. Damn shame that they didnt turned the screen to the bassplayer when he played. He has an amazing bass tones...well, the whole group is really fun to watch.
Yeah but in all fairness his solo didn't deviate all that much from the normal bass line he was carrying...a testament to what a great bass player he was.
remember hearing this song after a pitcher or two I forget...lost track and being numb at the beauty of it. it's like he watched me for the past semester. shaking hands doesn't really nail it, but I don't hate her. I wasnt' ready for a relationship at the time. I was probably ready for a Gatorade and a nap
