Great seeing this. Was watching this episode as a teenager in the 90's. Now 15 yrs in the LFB. Remember thinking the watch and guv & SUB O sounds sound as a pound. And now I'm a new junior officer can testify this.
Ian Robinson Spot on. I worked with Mick on a BA Instructor course and my son joined them on that watch as a probationer shortly after that TV series. Sub O was the best rank in the job. You couldn't have paid me enough to take a Stn.O job. All gone to pot now though. The fireground looks like a field of daises there are so many white helmets now.
@@paulcurtis501 is he the one with the more Southern accent to Manchester? Did he stay in Manchester? RIP Bob. He seems like he was a funny man. Sorry for your loss
Great watching this again! Filmed before I joined the watch, great bunch of blokes! Scary that they've all retired now. Sadly we lost Bob last year. Total and utter respect Bob, he took me under his wing, even challenged training school over an assessment score for me and won! RIP Bob 🙏

My stepson worked that watch and was Mr April on their calendar. A couple of those lads did a hell of a good job decorating my hall, stairs and landing for me after I retired. Good decorators too. 😀. I did a BA instructors course with Mick just be before he was made substantive Stn.O. Lost touch with guys apart from the usual ....funerals!
Brings back memories to me. I was a pump driver. At chester old fire station. In the middle of chester. We had to be on seen in 5 minutes. I drove my pump. Like a nuter. Had 4 on the pump. We had it down to the bells going down 1 minute to be out .thet give me 4 minutes to be on seen . Love my job now retired. I would love to ride a pump be for I die
I have been looking for this for years thank you so, so much for the upload instant fave, those Leylands look so much better than the boring Volov's of today.
Unless the guy on the left hand pole of the 135 ladder has four hands then it was a straightforward 4 man pitch. Done is a three man and even a two man (heel into building, poles outstretched) on the yard but never on a job.
Have to agree we you there John Johnson much better than the crappy Volvo's and Scania today only Lancashire still use leylands(DAFS) Best of the British, Mr December do you have any more of these all the other blues and two's uploaded on here a terrible quality
The 'P' Reg Volvo pumps GMCFS bought in 1997 were the best they had ever had. They had low profile wheels/tyres and the water tank was located down in the chassis which gave better handling and road holding.
