Met Toots a few times in the mid 80s on eastern Long Island. A kind, gentle man.

The Saxophonist Adam Hutcheson is nailing the changes, he crafted his solo very well with great bebop motives, rhythmic variation, flawless timing and he built it up until the end! Bravo. He evidently has great influences by the masters like Phil Woods and others

Fantastic stuff! I find the audience response at the end of each solo a lttle restrained. I would be trying to clinb on stage and high five the soloist! (This is why I am banned from many jazz clubs.)

Very good. But I once heard it performed by Kurt Cobain, Tina Turner and Elton John at a charity event. Slash of Guns and Roses was on a guitar he set fire to on stage. It was the best cover I've ever heard of it. The event manager overheard afterwards Elton say 'That's the greatest guitar playing, Slash' Slash replied, 'Gee Mr John, thankyu sow much. I always do me best'

Awesome!! Mr. Davidian, I am an aspiring jazz pianist, and I feel that I’m hitting a plateau with my ability to improvise, and I really want to be able to create soaring melodies when I solo. I can hear in my head what I want to play, but I don’t know how to play what I hear. Do you have any tips for getting better at this?

If the sax player should play less notes and choosing "the right note on the right place " he should sound way better. That is what Toots always did. Please, many notes is not ART ,it is a way to show that your inspiration has limits, I 'm sorry.

Well, this is valid for saxophone players in general. The instrument supports fast licks and scales and most players want to show that they have been in the shed and done their homework 😅 In this case I agree to the other comment: It's a great solo in all aspects. I do not understand your comment about the sax solo, because you do not say the same about the piano solo. Without having counted the notes per minute I would say that there is no difference. Both play quite modern interpretations of the tune, I like it.
