Gosh Tom- I thought we lost you to being 'grounded'. (P.S. LOVE the house, bud!) It's good to see you & your alter-ego back. I genuinely like this unit, almost too many buttons & tech- even for me, a certified, card carrying MAN. There is enough power to mount this, hook it up centrally, wire up solar, allow it to charge when on shore power & just be happy. 2Kwh LiFePO4 battery, 2k inverter & plenty 'O ports- answers almost every question. Even @ $2k- it almost adds up to 'value packed!' It's genuinely nice to see solar generators getting to this point. Between you, Will Prowse & a few others- you've raised the bar for these manufacturers, and- WE are getting the benefits! Thank you!!!

This is the best review channel for batteries and refrigerators out there period!!!!!!! Been a Mechanical/Electrical engineer for 35 years and you break things down so the common man can understand. Most people will never understand the specs anyways but you make it interesting enough that the masses get it. Good job as always! Must do a review on the best 12v/120v portable refrigerator/Freezer on the "Snomaster" which blows aways Dometic and ARB and any other China made product.

I have some old solar panels (four of them) rated about 205 Watts each, connected in series. AC200 charges well in good sun, reports over at a little over 700 Watts at times. Very pleased with this setup.

Just a note to say thank you SO much. I hemmed and hawed and debated and fretted about what would best suit my needs, and I finally (*finally*) pulled the trigger on this unit thanks to your reviews. I'm certainly not a luddite, but for someone who isn't exactly well acquainted with solar options or to all the nuts and bolts of cables, connection options etc., and power exchanges, your videos are a godsend. You really do a wonderful job (with zero trace of a condescending tone) to explain what types of options are important to consider and are most important for different types of needs. I rarely comment on youtube, but I made the effort here. My sincere thanks again. Very, very appreciated. This was a LOT of money to drop, but I've been thinking debating this decision for over a year, and the time had finally come to do it.

I got my AC200 and already wired the 25 amp to my fuse box and it worked great I have put the box back on my house battery but I know now if it goes dead that I have back up on it . My frig has not missed a beat I get about 3 days on run time it's a 4.5 cubic foot 115 ac my other one runs 2 cpap's and I get 2 days before I charge it again. They cover all my needs but it's winter and I still want to see how it works with my window unit 5000 BTU. I only need about 40 minutes of run time to cool it down and once I get my solar that should handle Charging out in the woods. And thank you for taking the time to answer my questions that I had.

Looks like we’re close to a turnkey emergency back-up package for residential use or even a full time grid tie-in system suitable for even a total novice a a reasonable price!! Can hardly wait. As it is, this Bluetti is too big and heavy for my minivan. Have been waiting for a solar answer to run enough heat at night in the van to keep my travel pet parrots warm with no fuel gases. My little solar box and panels are too whimpy for overnight warmth in the shoulder seasons or at elevation.

The dual charging is amazing. I have the Delta 1300 and one of the things I *hate* about it is the 1200 watt charging. I have popped many friends circuits when plugging it in because you can't regulate it's input. I'd strongly prefer slightly longer charge and maybe do 800 watts or so which is still plenty fast or a friggin setting to allow you to set max input.

@@HOBOTECH they said solar charging will be increased to 600 W ... but yeah ... that's its only real problem from my point of view... 10lb for 1/3 +- more capacity is not really a problem I would say ... If you do the maths you'll see Leoch is actually lighter per usable watt hour than the ETTI . Etti just has smaller capacity - it's like comparing a AC50 with this one .. of course the AC50 is lighter as it's much smaller in capacity . For me the touch screen is not a good feature ... I think once that breaks you won't be able to charge it from DC/PV and it will break as any touch screen does ... or start working really slow after like 1 year or so ... But it's indeed really beautiful. The invertor looks kinda so so in this one as well ... Maybe not the invertor but the way they let you use it - if you do 3 more tests at a higher wattage like you did I think you might fry it pretty easy ... We have to compare the prices of these as well ... they are both discounted .... and the etti is still like 80% more expensive ... LEOCH is a bargain for 2048 usable watts ... while etti is just an ok offer ... Afterall, capacity, invertor and price are the 3 most important things on these SOGENs ... I'd say Leoch wins all 3 of these battles (or at least 2 of them) by far ! The outputs are ok for both - You can kinda do similar things on both of them ... Having more outputs is nice ... but not really a game changer . You can always use AC if the DC output is not enough in Leoch .

Hey, Tom- you may have answered this before, but what’s the difference between pass-through charging and UPS? It seems like they’d be the same.
@AntonioCunningham
@AntonioCunningham 3 года назад
I would assume UPS have better battery management when battery is full. For example; my Sauoi once topped up, it runs on AC (sure power) and slowly trickal charge the battery. My AC200 only runs on the battery. When it gets to 100%, it turns off. It turns back on a 99% and you hear a loud click and the charger kicks back on. I tried to use my AC200 like my Sauoki, but the constant loud click can get obnoxious and I'm not sure if this degrade this internal switch.
@HOBOTECH
@HOBOTECH 3 года назад
UPS passes the power direct from the input cable to the inverters bypassing the battery. AC200P input charges the battery and then the battery powers the inverter.
@StringerNews1
@StringerNews1 3 года назад
When talking about uninterruptible power supplies, it's helpful to know that there are two basic types of UPS, and why you'd want each type. The UPS type that you're most likely to see in the home or small office, and be able to buy at an office supply store is the standby type. A standby UPS passes the wall AC through to its outlets under normal circumstances, and uses the same wall AC to charge the battery, but the AC-DC conversion circuit only has enough capacity to charge the battery, it can't power the inverter directly. When AC power is lost, a relay disconnects the outlets from the AC cord to the wall and connects them to the output of the inverter, which turns on at the same time. The time it takes the relay to switch from one power source to the other, and for the inverter to energize itself takes a small amount of time. In many cases the slight delay is no problem, but some electronics can't tolerate even a short outage, and/or require AC power that's extremely clean and regulated. This brings us to the other type of UPS. The online, or double-conversion UPS keeps the wall AC power and the other stages separate, so it essentially regenerates AC from DC. The first stage, the AC-DC converter rectifies the AC from the wall and delivers it to the battery charger _and_ the inverter, which runs all the time. The output of the inverter goes straight to the output. Normally the rectified wall current is passed directly to the inverter, turned back into AC and passed along to whatever is connected. Not only does this guarantee continuous AC to the load with _no_ interruption, not even brief ones, it also means that the AC coming out can be more stable in frequency and voltage, and free from inductive or capacitive phase shifts present on the main grid. The cost is efficiency, with two conversions. Most UPS systems (and there are very large ones designed to power entire industrial buildings) are designed to be used to contend with brief, temporary power outages. If the outage lasts longer than a few minutes, a UBS, or uninterruptible battery system comes into play. Typically this is a Diesel generator with enough power to supply a facility either directly or through an online UPS. Some solar inverters also have a "generator start" feature that serves a similar function. While the UPS is designed to be used where mains AC is the primary, but not completely reliable power source, a solar generator is typically used in places where there is no mains AC. A solar generator is functionally no different than a permanently installed hotel power system for a boat or RV, but is portable so it can be taken far beyond the reach of a boat or RV. Despite the solar aspect being played up, you don't have to use solar power to recharge them; wall current works just fine with the correct adapter. This comes to the possibility of using a solar generator as a UPS at home, or in a boat or RV where switching between shore and hotel power can cause brief outages. Needless to say, solar power can be quite variable too, so there are many reasons to have enough chemical battery capacity to make it through the times when other power sources aren't available. Because your typical home UPS is plugged into the wall for AC power, a limiting factor is how much wall current it can draw. If your SoGen comes with a "brick" to plug into the wall, you'll be limited to how much power that the brick can produce on an extended basis. The thing about sealed power bricks is that they're typically designed for occasional use, for recharging only, and don't have any cooling that might keep them going 24x7. I would be careful about using any power brick as part of a UPS system because that's most likely to be the weak link. Another thing about power bricks is that they can't do standby UPS functionality. The brick turns AC power into a lower voltage DC output, so there's no way to feed AC straight through to your output AC outlets without using the inverter. And because they're designed to provide enough power for battery charging, you're not going to be able to power much without draining the battery. Solar generators that plug straight into AC without a "brick" or "wall wart" have the potential to pass AC from the wall to the outlets, so in theory you can power as much as your circuit breaker or input fuse can handle, as long as the battery is fully charged. You might get 1200VA (maybe 1000 Watts) continuous power from a device rated at 15A @ 120VAC. You can buy a purpose-built UPS for a lot less, though. Pass-through charging just means that the device used to charge the battery has extra capacity to draw power from it while charging the battery. Most solar generators today let you use at least some part of the SoGen while charging. In some cases the cigar lighter plug and some other DC outlets are wired straight to the battery, so you _can_ use them no matter what.
