And if you're new to the channel … and I assume you are since you probably searched for this … take a few minutes and look around. No, it's not a solar channel, but I do need to rely on the technology in order to do what I do. And maybe it can help spark some ideas for you too.

Thanks for your video and your honest opinion. I have two AC300's with each having two B300 batteries. I have not used them as of yet. An electrician will coming around toward the end of next week to drill a hole for for the MC4 Cables. I have 24 solar panels for the two AC300 twelve for each unit. plus I will be using two charging enhancer with either 4 or 5 100 watt panels. Right now I have four solar panels, and don't know if I want to buy two more panels or not, but I think I will have enough to power to power up my house if the electricity goes out. I also have an AC200P, and an AC200MAX. I have a B230 battery hooked up to the AC200MAX. I have my freezer, car freezer, a small refrigerator, and the washing machine connected to the AC200MAX at all times. I also plug in the Rainbow Vacuum cleaner to vacuum the carpets in the family room and where the washer and dryer is located, but I don't use the vacuum and washer at the same time. Upstairs near the kitchen I have my refrigerator hooked up to the AC200P, and also my car refrigerator, and I plug in my Rainbow vacuum cleaner to vacuum the area. I also charge batteries on the AC200P. I am happy I purchased the AC200P, and the MAX with the B230 battery . I hope I am just as happy when I get both the AC300 working.

Thanks Rick. I researched the AC300 last year and looked at your earlier videos. It has worked great for my installation on a 36’ boat. At the time it was the only unit that did true 30amp pass thru. My generator had given up and was not able to be repaired for the short Canadian boating season. Having 790W of solar panels and the ability to top up at shore power was great. All the best.

I'm late to the game here, but this video is exactly what I was looking for. I have a Bluetti, like yours, and I plan to use it in my RV, when I go full time, in a couple of months. It looks like it'll meet my needs. I have a good inverter generator, and plan to add solar panels, so I should be all set. Thank you. I've subscribed and intend to do some binge watching.

Good point about using a generator to charge the battery bank... Make sure it's a inverter type! I have the Ecoflow power kit and tried charging with my regular non inverter 10 year old gas generator. Errors everywhere! Plugged it into the wall... No problem. Plugged it into a inverter generator and, yup no issues, no errors👌
@rickhiggins
@rickhiggins 9 месяцев назад
We briefly tried it with a non-inverter. Didn't even recognize it as a power source. So yea, we carry a Genmax inverter genie. And when I remember to clean out the carb bowl (or heaven forbid not let it get gunked up), it works like a charm.

We use our power station at home for more than our “beer fridge”. We have an Ecoflow Delta 2 Max as a UPS for our furnace and water heater. Instead of them being directly power from our panel, we converted their local cable power hook up to plugs and have them plugged into the Ecoflow and then that plugged to the outlet. Works great as our water and furnace are heated by Natural Gas, which retains pressure during a power out, so they still run. In building out our overland vehicle, building batteries into the vehicle is cheaper for more Watts Hours / Amps.

6:49 You can limit the amp draw in the settings, that will stop that from happening. I had to if I plugged a portable AC into the same "room" outlet circuit. I limited my Bluetti to only drawing 5amps or ≅ 600 watts IF using the other outlets with a high-power draw device.
@MOKPT3
@MOKPT3 5 месяцев назад
If you want the Bluetti to pull less power from a generator, you can tell the AC300 how many amps to draw....all the way down to 1. Settings ...Next... Max Grid Current. I wish the app had way more info. It does show the PV in, Grid in, AC out, DC out and battery charge. You can also turn AC on/or DC on/off. The app could be so much better.

Great video Rick, appreciate it. I'm looking to put one of these in a 30 Amp camper I have that sits on a piece of vacant land I have in rural Florida that we visit once or twice a month. I have lots of questions and would love to send you an email with them all if you don't mind. But mostly, the AC unit. I have a 13500 BTU AC in the camper and in Florida, its hot. In the summer, when we get to the camper, it takes my 4500 Champion generator 2 and a/2 hours to cool it down from 90+ degrees to about 78. I saw you talk about how your AC didn't stop you from sweating during the video so will the AC500 w/ 2 B300S batteries be enough to run the AC, on and off for 6 hours a day? Do the batteries charge with the solar connected while in use? I also heard you say that the inverter burns a lot of power. I'm thinking of the AC500 and I would assume that would burn even more. I am also thinking that I would put the inverter and the batteries in the forward compartment of the camper and make some type to exhaust fan to suck out the heat and only plug the main camper power cord into the 30 Amp receptacle in the Bluetti AC500. Would that draw to much power or would the 2 batteries be enough. I think this it going to be a work in progress for me but your video was great and just what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I'm doing a van build right now. I want to travel for work doing electrical construction all around the country where they are paying high wages and high per diem. Powerstations are getting to the point where they are more affordable than doing a self build.. I bought a BLUETTI EB240 2400Wh for $780 and I also bought a Jackery 2160Wh for $1200. A self build with 400ah batteries would be more of a cost. But the best part is that I can take out my powerstations if I sell the van.

Swinging by to watch the video you shared. I also want to finish watching the NOLA video. I'm from there. Also a unsolicited tip, try to work on some uniformity and clarity in the thumbnails. I may or may not be getting one of these shortly and would then prefer to primarily use it with solar. From the research I’ve been doing, the solar panels Bluetti offer in their deals aren’t the most efficient and are also not so practical for long term use (multiple years). I’m still learning my way around all the specifications and how I should go about what solar panels to go with. Does anyone have any experience with this product and could suggest what I should look into ? I would like to acquire as close to the full 2400 watt input through the 2 independent MPPT controllers as possible. Any help would be really appreciated !

Led lights are extremely sensitive to voltage discrepancies. With 120V AC (bluetti and or grid) my low wattage led light flickers when I have power spikes. You could probably use a different type of bulb, one that is less sensitive to avoid the flickering.

Ohh and also if you want a more efficient Air Conditioner, get one of the newer units with a inverter, instead of the classic compressor type. The energy savings are quite large.

@@trevorbelmont4633 The AC300 is an "inverter" so doing that isn't efficient money-wise. It is a rather large unit so unless you're putting it in a van or a bus I wouldn't recommend using it. What do you plan to do with it in a vehicle? It has a 3kwatts max output and the battery is 3,072Whours. edit: oh and they are having a sale right now too the AC300 and new battery B300k are 1,700$ and that's cheap AF.

I bought the AC300 and 2 batteries for my tiny home. I bought 6 of their 200 watt portable panels which do charge well when it’s not raining but after I bought them the paperwork said don’t allow them to get rained on. I live in Oregon so that’s a joke. I have been emailing with support about what outdoor waterproof panels work with this unit and they haven’t been real helpful. Another problem is it’s quite cloudy here so I bought 12 100 watt Harbor Freight Thunderbolt amorphous panels which are suppose to charge in cloudy weather but they’re not working AT ALL. May I ask what exactly are you using for the panels on your roof? Thank you!

@rickhiggins
@rickhiggins 7 месяцев назад
We have 1200 watts up on the roof and another 800 in portable folding panels. Charge time is so variable, but I can give a real life example from the past few days. We're in Baja in February, so we have lots of low angle sun. We end every day at 100% and by morning (cooking, etc) we're usually around 70%. We have three B300s, so you do the math. Today we were back up to 100% around 1pm. The top panels were bought used from Santan Solar in Arizona. Ex-Canadian units. We love those. The folding panels are seriously not worth the month, but we already spent it so they get to stay for awhile. I won't even mention their name, they're so low efficiency.

Ummm, not so great. We have one of those "window, not window" units where the main unit sits on the floor and the exhaust fits in the window. We can run it maybe 3-4 hours before the batteries get to the point where I'd rather sweat. On shore power, it's all fine. But honestly, the unit we have isn't big enough for the bus. We're thinking of going the mini-split route, and perhaps one more B300 back there. Stay tuned.

We have one of those "indoor and put the hose through the window" units, and with 3 B300 batteries we could go for maybe 4-5 hours before they drained so much we'd lose the fridge too. Then again, that AC unit is far from efficient. We're thinking mini-split so when that happens, we'll be sure and do an update.
