After reading many reviews and watching a lot of videos, I chose this option for my first backup power station. ru-vid.comUgkxHypYDKHAN93Lp2RQpfvU_ksc70wJ00pt I was between this and a larger option that could power a wider range of items, but the price/size/capacity blend seemed right for this unit. Hasn't gotten a ton of use yet, but the build quality is solid and it charges fine via the Rockpals solar panel I purchased to pair with it. One thing to note is that the screen is optimized for a top down viewing angle, which makes sense, but this means it washes out at other angles - especially low angles. Not a huge deal, but perhaps a better option for the display could be used to provide wider viewing angles.

Loved the review. Just on the hack, the DC in is limited to 8.5A. This means at 12v you will top out at around 100w. However, if you can up the voltage to 24v at 8.5A then you are looking at 200w (unit will take up to 28v). The hack is nice is extending the capacity but you are limited by the charging rate as to how much of an extended operating time can be achieved. I do use this hack when powering my fringe freezer in a power cut, as that averages less than 100w over the day. I also have some adaptors for power tool battery packs that is a small alternative to boosting it at a pinch.

I'm a bit confused about your battery hack... so how do you charge up the extra battery? I wish you have explained the use case for this. Can you hook up solar to the battery and pass on the power to both of the devices at the same time, or what not sure.
@Bowmans-Woods
@Bowmans-Woods 11 месяцев назад
You can plug solar into your sol gen and when you have full batteries and still solar coming in you could charge the batteries with an inexpensive 12/24v battery charger from the AC plug. Then when you don’t have enough solar, you can use the batteries to charge the sol gen by tricking it to think the 2 batteries are 25.6v solar panels. The batteries just act as a place to dump unused solar power.

I’d get a solar generator with solar panels. It has everything you need. Plus it’s portable if you want to take it off site. Just make sure you have enough solar to power it sufficiently and solar generator that has enough watt output to run what you will be using. I’d always go above 2000 watts.

The battery cells used in that and most power stations is the double A battery type LIPO 4, rather than the big prismatic cells.. The big prismatic cells can get 5 to 6 thousand cycles to 80%, the double A battery type cannot, just for clarification..Of course if you charge it to only 80-90% and discharge it to 20% and slow charge it, you'll get alot more cycles..

To damp battery juice from an external battery into the EB3A you need the voltage to be higher than 13v...not sure your hack works for longer periods. Others use a Voltage step up, to 24v before connecting to the Bluetti.
@Bowmans-Woods
@Bowmans-Woods Год назад
It treats it like solar so the MPPT controller ups the Voltage. A step up converter does help because if the MPPT controller senses a higher voltage it will allow it to charge faster.

The charging external batteries is by the AC out through a battery charger. You you could put at least a 200W panel on it and then slow charge your battery. A larger Sol Gen with more solar would be better for the constant draw of charging batteries during sunny times.

Easiest way to charge the battery is to just get a cheap 12/24v charger off Amazon. When you have solar and your sol gen is nearly full just charge your battery. Or if you have sporadic access to power, like on a boat when you occasionally have shore power, you charge everything full then. We are boaters, so that is what we do. Use at anchorage, top up everything when at a dock.

So newbie stupid question, After you use the extra 100 ah battery attached to the bluetti, doesn'it the extra battery need to be charged up again? And how do you do that?
@Bowmans-Woods
@Bowmans-Woods 8 месяцев назад
Ya, I explain that in a different video. So if you get a sunny day and you have plenty of solar, you will get to the point that your sol gen is fully charged and it will stop accepting any new solar watts coming in. In a case like that you can plug in a battery charger to the AC out on your sol gen and start dumping power into the battery for use later if you have an extended power outage. The battery just acts as a store of unused power that you can use later.

I think they want to keep them small so they do not want to make space for a cord storage area on the unit. But they do all give you a zippered bag to store all your cables. Yes you can use it while charging. You can buy MC4 Extension cords on places like Amazon so you can have your solar generator farther from the panels. Or you can make your own extension to match any size you want.

So I have what is probably a very naive question, but I sense you might know a lot about it having a boat and turning to alternative power, although I’m afraid silence on the topic answers the question already to some extent, but… Wave generators? I’m trying to look into anything as an alternative for when solar is not cutting it, is the lack of consumer options just thanks to marketing? are they available but simply suck? Could diy systems be worth it? Occasionally I will see videos on use cases that make the functionality seem well past an experimental stage but there doesn’t seem to be any marketing or diffusion of the information really

Is it safe to leave the battery inside a car the entire day? Especially when its hot in summer?
@Bowmans-Woods
@Bowmans-Woods 6 месяцев назад
They are rated for a heat range. You would have to check what the range is and see if the heat inside the car exceeds that. If you live in a hot sunny area, you may want to crack a window or two to dissipate the heat if you are leaving it outside in the sun.

I have two of these and I need you to elaborate on the "Power Lift" mode. I expected it to give me 600 watts, when connected to any resistive load, by lowering the voltage. The two I have don't do that. When I attempt to run an 800 watt coffee maker, for instance, I barely get 380 watts of power from the unit. That is B.S. as far as I'm concerned. Are you saying that if the load is very far over the 600 watt normal output, the lift mode WILL NOT provide at least 600 watts to the appliance? What is the value of the "Power Lift" mode then, in that case? On the two that I have, they each have a lamp, equipped with an LED bulb, plugged into them. As near as I can tell, the lamps are running off of the unit's inverter and after the inverter runs the internal battery down to 99%, the charger kicks in to recharge the battery. Because it isn't an actual pass through type UPS, those two lamps blink every couple of hours when the switch-over to charge takes place. It is quite annoying and it may only be noticeable because I'm using non-incandescent bulbs, but in any event, it means that the units' batteries are being used and wearing out over time, rather than the power from the grid keeping the lights burning during normal times. That just seems wrong to me. But, beyond that, I do like the units. I think I may have even gotten them at a cheaper price that you quoted because of coupons, holiday sales, or new release promotions. I don't remember exactly, but because of the small battery capacity, I wouldn't have bought them if they weren't really cheap.
@Bowmans-Woods
@Bowmans-Woods 11 месяцев назад
You need to reach out to Bluetti and ask these questions. I don’t use anything above 600w with it so I have never had any issues. I think power lift just tries to lower the volts a bit and raise the amps. A lot of products don’t like you doing that. So I don’t do it.

It should be fine since it is 200w. But check on the website to see if it says what the max open circuit voltage is. It says it has circuits to prevent over charging so I think if it is too high of voltage, it just won’t accept the charge?
