That was an interesting video. I've been following Thomas Blug for a long time. I first knew him as a fantastic guitar player. Then I learnt that he designed a lot of the really good sounding Hughes & Kettner stuff, which means he's a great electronics engineer as well. It's almost unbelievable that one person can combine so many talents... You can tell (also in this video) that Thomas is really "on fire" for the whole subject. I could listen to him for hours. And I've already spent many, many hours on his RU-vid channel... The Amp X has been in the queue for a long time. I was afraid that the whole project would be cancelled, because the last few crazy years have certainly not been easy for such a small team as Thomas has around him. Anyway, I'm very pleased that things are progressing and I don't think Thomas is exaggerating when he says it's worth the wait... So thanks for the good video, Paul! Thumbs up. I'm already looking forward to when you show us the Amp X in detail...! Best regards. Michael.

Cool. Everything I've heard made by Blug sounds great. It is an interesting combination of Analog and Digital components and design. I look forward to future Blind Tests to comparisons of it to other forms of Simulators, Modelers, Profilers, Captures, Plugins, Tone Matching, etc. Before too long, the technology will exceed the limitations of our senses, and we won't be able to hear any meaningful differences.
@nikthefix8918
@nikthefix8918 7 месяцев назад
Hearing meaningful differences I already can't do at this stage (with amp sims etc) but feeling meaningful differences is another matter. The boost mini potentiometer on my Amp1 has failed to work after a year of use of my Amp 1, and half the rest of the mini adjustment potentiometers on the side of my Amp1 are now scratchy as f*. I remember emailing Blug when the boost mini pot started to fail, and basically got a "go f* yourself" type answer from Blug. Think of that if you think of buying Blug products, you may be lucky, you may be not. Talking about "other brands" related to music, I had a couple of issues with 2 of my Gibsons (Les Paul 100 Less Plus, SG Special HP), issues with the zero fret nut and bridge micro allen screw, and guess what, the Gibson customer service has been absolutely FANTASTIC SO FAR ... just to give a comparison between "professionals" and, well, you guess what.

Release the Vintage only version. AMP-V. All analog. That's going to end up on all the studio tracks for pop, rock, country, hip hop, alt. even punk. And it will be great for quieter stages as well as loud fly rig uses. The metal stuff is a separate, smaller specialty who deserve their own amp. I use vintage amps. Anytime I plug into a digital amp re-creator it feels wrong and my edge of breakup and clean tones suffer in the lows and low mids. I know an analog version MIGHT work... anything between my guitar cable and amp changes things, but some, like a tube echoplex NOT EVEN ON improves the tone. This could do that too. If I tour another continent with power that won't feed my vintage amps, I want something real on stage with me and for my second amp (I play wet dry) I want this.. but it has to feel good and sound real in the cleaner realm.

Very cool. I typically prefer smaller units that I can use in a hybrid pedalboard with my favorite pedals (ie, QC, GT1000 core, HX stomp, etc). Yes I think the market might be a bit sniffy of this. If you're so into analogue I think you'll want control over your own effects chain. If you want multifx you'd go qc helix etc. If he'd just done an updated amp in a box with a stereo effects loop it would have been less work and sold more.

It's 42cm * 20cm, not that big at all for what it does and how it sounds/feels (I imagine it's on par or better than Mercury I have).

I must admit I have slightly mixed feelings about this having played modellers since the very early ones up to the super modern stuff. For recording there is no benefit at all to playing a real amp (unless you really enjoy the 'feel in the room') let alone an analog modeller. Knowing a bit about circuits and amplifier design you cannot have something like a chorus that models every different chorus in analog. It may be a fantastic sounding chorus but it's not really a modelling chorus in the way that digital one can be. The great strength in this unit may be the way that it feels under your fingers but to this date I haven't heard anybody who has reviewed the original blue guitar amps say they sound otherworldly in comparison to a high-end digital modeller. I like Thomas and I'm sure whatever product he makes will sound good . I wonder since the time of the original conception of the blue guitar amp series if it is as relevant as it was all those years ago.

But it is the feel that's the key. It makes you play in a different way and that affects the sound.

In my 40 years of playing , I owned plexi, vox,fender,boogie,jcm etc etc AND great /average modelling units. I have connected these to the best available power amps(valve +transistor) +the return input on a guitar amp .Comparing the feel between a top modeller and an amp (With the cab in another room) there is only a tiny subjective difference .when you record you don't stand in the room with a loud amp trying to play along to the track. Also this device is not a modelling amp it sounds like itself which according to Tomas is something like a Marshall with a clean channel and a metal channel. Therefore it's only two main benefits could be - 1/ it feels exactly like a real marshall when you are stood in a room with it connected to a cab. I wouldn't dream of buying it until I was absolutely sure that this was the case I'm going to buy it anyway unless my dream amp was a plexi 2/ it is more compact and convenient than lugging around a big head and lots of pedals, but you might need some pedals to connect to the unit your favourites and Thomas says this himself. So there may be a possible benefit once again but I am explaining to you valid reasons why I am more than a little sceptical.

Wow! I am a happy Kemper Stage user. But this was awesome! Love the interview, and the sound really appears to be EXCELLENT (his marshall model sounded so incredible). As others say, his passion is pure and he is a genious... That is a actually a true new product and I wish the best to this man. I'd love to get one!

I had a chance to go to either Shot Show or Namm..I went to Shot instead. 🤘 I heard this guy play a few years ago and was impressed. I never really wanted to play like anyone else, but when I saw Blug play, thats how I wanted to play.
