Dale Winston Yes, if a gravity system. The basic formula is that you can run the 8mm supply line 10' horizontal for every 1' of drop from the top of the water. If you can't put the reservoir high enough, there's a simple pressure pump system you can install that gives enough pressure for up to 500 Blumats. www.sustainablevillage.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_75&product_id=210
@SustainableVillage1 I would like to see a trouble shooting tutorial. At least a checklist to go over if you have "run away" carrots or reasons why a carrots opperation may fail. Maybe show a regular maintainance check as well. I would like to see a list of things that are dont's and may lead to a failure. A check list of where to start after a reservoir emptying failure would be of great help. I have had a pesky "run away" and can't seem to pin point where I'm going wrong. Oregons Constant Gardener's video is the best I've seen to address these problems but a comprehensive one from you guys would be great! A great system when working properly!!
Good suggestions, we'll work on that. Our "Tips and Tricks" flyer has lots of this kind of information including how to prevent "run-aways": www.sustainablevillage.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=34
Good suggestion, thanks. We do have a "Tips and Tricks" pdf that covers run-aways and many other questions.. You can see it online and download it: www.sustainablevillage.com/blog/blog-tips-and-tricks
I get that you turn it down until a waterdrop hangs. However, I don't really get why you have to dail it further down to "one or two of the marked arrows".
It depends on the type of soil or planting mix, how hot it is, the kind of plant, etc. This is just a "rule of thumb" but since there are so many variables, it's just a place to start.
Does the carrot have to be inserted into the potting soil before water will travel through the tube from the carrot? I was attempting to test my first carrot in the sink before I added my nutrients to the reservoir and i'm not getting any flow.
It doesn't have to be in the soil but it has to be dry. In this video we use a paper towel to make it come on: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4e3F_2Yijng.html
