Journey to the West is a fantastic and one of the best films I've seen this century. Shop around the corner is truly great but for some reason criminally underrated. Thanks for the mention. That's quite a haul sir.

Ah I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed Journey to the West so much! I'll make sure to get to it soon. Definitely looking forward to Shop Around the Corner as well. I picked up Broken Lullaby in the last Indicator sale, so I've got a couple Lubitsch films to enjoy. Thanks so much for watching Ronin!

Such an inviting range and depth of filmmaking in this haul. Picked a few similar titles myself in the past few months. I hope you get as much out of Long Arm of the Law as I did. Guerrilla film making at its best. The copy of the Taid from Umbrella is even more impressive on your table than the website photos. Enjoy!

Thanks Chris! Very much looking forward to the Long Arm of the Law films. I'd never heard of them before I saw you talking about them, so really glad I can finally check them out. I can hugely recommend Umbrella's edition of The Raid. Expensive but not overly pricey, and it is an absolute behemoth! Looking forward to your next watchlist video to see what you've been picking up and watching!

Hello Warren great video and fantastic haul. The thing I couldn't abide with on The Old Man and the Sea was that voice over. It was like listening to an audio book. I have all the Billy Wilder Eureka releases. There are quite a few. A Foreign Affair while not top tier Wilder is an entertaining romp. I will watch anything with Marlene in.

Thanks Roy! Ah yes I know what you mean. I didn't mind it too much, but I just felt like the film should have been better. I think the original story was just a novella, and making a feature length film out of that just didn't quite translate. Ah wonderul, I'm just 2 films away now myself from having all Eureka's Billy Wilder, but unfortunately one of them is Fedora which I know is long OOP. I'm exactly the same, anything with Marlene Dietrich in, I'll happily give a watch!

Thanks Sam! River was a lot of fun, I think you'll really enjoy it and definitely pick up Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes if you can, both are quite similar, but there is a lot of joy packed into them. My first experience with those Vinegar Syndrome partner label releases, and I'm really impressed. Of course they are the usual thinner American bluray cases, but they are all really nice, and the slipcovers have an interesting texture to them! Oh mate, I feel like I haven't made the most of the Signal One sale so I might go back for more. Some fantastic deals. Glad you've picked up a few! Looking forward to seeing what Radiance titles you picked up too. I haven't re-watched The Raid 2 yet, but I remember it being just as good. I really hope Umbrella release the second one so I can have them both together. Action done to perfection! Have a great weekend too Sam!

Looking forward to re-visiting Open Range after what must be close to 20 years since I last saw it, so glad to hear it's one you enjoy as well. Thanks for watching Stuart!

Hi Warren. A good mix of titles. I enjoyed all the X Men films at the time but seem to have lost interest in them now, maybe I’ll revisit some day. I’m quite a big fan of Stanley Baker, even though I wouldn’t say he’s been great in every film. Favourites for me are Zulu (the film that introduced me to him), Yesterday’s Enemy (a Hammer war film), Robbery (Peter Yates calling card to then make Bullitt), In A French Style (acting opposite the wonderful Jean Seberg), Hell Drivers and A Prize of Arms. I do have The Criminal but yes it’s a bit lacklustre

Thanks Neil! I think with things like the X-Men type of films, interest ebbs and flows maybe more so then other genres as we are so inundated with that sort of thing these days, and it can get a bit tiresom, but I remember being plesantly surprised at how much fun I had watching these again in 2020, (despite the variance in quality). I can't believe I forgot about Zulu, it's a classic that I've never seen, and certainly need to. I picked up Robbery a month or two ago and enjoyed it quite a bit, I love a good heist film, and Baker seems to enjoy playing a cunning thief. I'm not familiar with any of the others you mention, and particularly curious to see him opposite Jean Seberg, so really appreciate the recommendations, thanks so much!

A very varied haul. I agree tnat Stanley Baker is a very underrated actor. The Criminal is not his best but some of his other films also directed by Joseph Losey are much better,in particular Accident (Studio Canal) where he is cast opposite Dirk Bogarde ,and Eve (Indicator) where he appears opposite Jeanne Moreau. A Foreign Affair is vintage Wilder,similar to his other Berlin comedy One Two Three,also released by MoC.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! I'll definitely pick up Accident. I'm keen to get more into Joseph Losey's films as well, so Baker and Losey together tick both boxes for me. I really enjoyed Eva, though it's been about a year since I last saw it. I'm a big fan of Jeanne Moreau as well, so it's one I need to re-visit. Glad to hear A Foreign Affair is a good one! I've had One Two Three sat on my shelf unwatched for a while now, so perhaps I'll do a Wilder double feature soon. Thanks so much for watching!

Nice video thank you. In Australia we have the rating on the front cover as I’ve noticed on some of my UK titles and the titles I saw in your video. Why is it there sometimes twice in the left and right corner and in different colours ? Another great video and haul thank you
@goosesmovies
@goosesmovies Месяц назад
Thanks so much for watching! The red one is the UK rating, (from the BBFC), and the blue one is the Irish rating, (from the IFCC). As the countries are so close together, I'm guessing it just makes sense to include both sometimes so they can be sold in either country.
