Thank you so much!! My baby just got fixed, and I didnt want to mess up her painkillers! She only has 3 liquid shots, and I'd be so beside myself if I messed up, and caused her to go without
Great video! My Chihuahua hates meds and is quick to clamp his jaws shut if he knows I'm trying to give him some. I found pill pockets for pills, but just got some liquid meds for him and was scared to administer it because my dog makes a fuss. This was quick and easier than i thought. Putting it in the cheek and not directly into an open mouth was key.
i dont know man... been trying for two days to give a 6 month old Shiba his medication., He been screaming and resisting like no tomorrow. cant even hold him still with two people lol
Same but with my chiuahuah, so far best advice is to just keep repeatedly guiding it to their mouth until its gently pressed against their mouth even after they turn their snout away. I just keep her in my lap or sometimes have to follow her while she contorts her head out of the way of the medication. Keep doing this until they tire out, first time was like 30 minutes (I watched youtube while waiting) of just doing that, then you try to put it in their cheek pocket with the same process. Eventually after the 5th time they will see that its pointless as you wont give up and it just make them tired. So mine just eventually let me, after I showed I was more stubborn than her 😅
I tried hiding the syringe under a piece of beef jerkey and when he opened his mouth squirted it in. It worked only once then he was too wise to my whole charade.
Remember too give liqued medication slowly, so your Dog or Cat can take the time too swallow the medicine. Squirting it fast into their mouth could result in your Dog or Cat choking or the liqued could go into their lungs. Be Patient and go slowly.
My golden doodle wouldn’t take it like that! I had to put her medicine in a little bowl and put chicken bouillon flavoring in it. Then she licked it all up! 😅
