A collection of quickly graded sample footage shots done in Davinci Resolve. Shot on BMCC 2.5K with the Rokinon 35mm. All clips were balanced then run through Juan Melara's Kodak 2383 CUSPclip LUT which identifies the luminance level at which maximum saturation is achieved within the target gamut. From there only local exposure, contrast, hue and minor saturation adjustments were made until it looked decent ;) Shot in 2.5K RAW, rendered 1080p H.264.
Music: Something French - Jacob Montague
LUT: juanmelara.com.au/print-film-e...

When I do what you did as you put in the discription, I get very contrasty images. Am I missing a step?

wow spectacular colours! Did you use speedbooster with the 35mm Rokinon, or was it directly attached to the cam?

Wow. Do you balance out the image before you add that Kodak LUT or after?
@BeckerProBros
@BeckerProBros 7 лет назад
Everything is easier if you balance before applying the lut, at least that's been my experience.

Nice. What camera settings do you use to get such a filmic feel? I don't know if I should use 23.96 or 24 fps, but I definitely always have the shutter at 180
@BeckerProBros
@BeckerProBros 7 лет назад
I shot this in 24fps, shutter at 180 and ISO 800.

Yea those are the same exact settings I use man! But I can't get this luminance/saturation that you got on this video. I mean my quality is just as good, but the color is just not popping like this after adding the Kodak lut. Maybe you can help me out man, I've been watching mad tutorials and your video is the BEST I've seen. I need this look lol

All I can say is maybe your lighting situations are different. Also after balancing, add the lut, then look at the shot and determine what needs to change. If it needs more or less saturation, contrast, ect. then go back and make those necessary changes BEFORE the node containing the lut. I also added a lum vs. sat curve to the end of the node sequence to take the saturation out of the shadows and/or highlights so it looks more natural. Here is a great example of this lum vs. sat practice: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EUBqwnWcFUg.html Once again this is just how it works for me and is not a wrong or right way to go about it. It is merely my opinion.

I don't get it. Doesn't BMCC have a crop factor of about 2.4x? If you 're using a 35mm then wouldn't it be around 84mm? Or even with a speed booster it'd be around 60mm? Why does the footage look so wide?
@BeckerProBros
@BeckerProBros 5 лет назад
Kebaburrito I used a speed booster that reduced the crop.

BeckerProBros there is no Luts or power-grade on that website for bmcc. May I contact you for getting those?
