@@Wolfpack345 My father was not a professional soldier. In Czechoslovakia every man had to serve two years and it was very unpopular. Mainly because of stupid officers and bullying among the soldiers... Probably the funniest story was when they had a military exercise and their task, together with several other BMP's, was to bring a group of soldiers to a designated place in the forest, drop them off and wait for them to return from completing the task. It was winter and the temperature was about -10°c. After some time, all the soldiers returned except for the squad from my father's BMP. The officer ordered them to wait for them in the BMP and the rest of the unit left. After several hours of waiting in the cold, they called headquarters asking if they could come back. The officer said they had to wait in the same place in case the lost squad found their way back to the BMP. They made a fire outside, but spent the night in the cold BMP. They did not have food supplies with them. In the morning they called the headquarters, but the stupid communist officer kept insisting that they stay in the same place and that the communist soldiers must be strong. One soldier had fruit candies with him, so they made tea out of them. Later, woodcutters appeared and shared snacks with the poor soldiers. In the evening, they finally heard from the headquarters that they could return to the base. There they found their lost squad lying in warm beds with minor frostbite. I do not guarantee the truth of the story. My father told me about it in my childhood, and in the Czech Republic stories about military service are usually greatly exaggerated. 😀
@@MrMekakoopa Yeah, we build them in Czechoslovakia under licence. We call them BVP-1 here which means Bojové Vozidlo Pěchoty. I guess that cramped inside is a price for such a low profile. 🙂
This game looks awesome, and the sound design is incredible! I need more! My potato PC can't run it, so you're where I get my fix. Keep up the good vids!
Actually, I think every low end pc can run this game. You might think the game is very demanding because the performance is usually under 60 fps (even in the video here) but that's all because of the optimization, which frankly doesn't exist. Performance will practically be the same on a 5K pc until they actually optimize it. I belive you can actually select potato graphics in the menu and unless you own a 2000s school computer you should be able to run it.
Wolfpack flew for the Luftwaffe. He hunted convoy with the Kriegsmarine. Now he drives a tank for the Nationale Volksarmee. Soon he will have replayed the whole german military history.
Got to appreciate how advanced the BMP was compared to the M113. Main cannon, anti tank missiles, amphibious and carries troops. The m113 in comparison was a tin can with a machine gun on top. The Soviets really pioneered the IFV concept.
Not really, the 73mm on the bmp-1 is an inaccurate pos, and with a gas tank in the rear door its no surprise that they are a burning deathtrap in Ukraine. You forgot the US pioneered the m114 as well around the same time with a 20mm turret and the m113 has been far more successful with 100's of different mods, even 20mm turrets and the aussies had a version in Vietnam using the saladin armored cars turret, its been used by many countries since.
@@witchywoman165 The 73mm is not meant for sniping, but close in hitting of infantry positions. The few rounds they carried to counter armour were for in a pinch. This can be seen in all their armoured units. Soviet tanks carried more HE than they did HEAT or darts, expected to fight infantry more. They also had a surprising amount of AT units carrying RPG and Kornet and whatever else they had. The thing is thin to keep it light, fast and in mass numbers, so anywhere you put the fuel is an issue if hit with more than small arms fire, and that was all they were supposed to eat. Also the main fuel tank was in the back inbetween the crew but not in the doors. The doors carrying fuel is a thing but the crews preferred to keep them empty for obvious reasons. They would have put fuel tank on the back like tanks, but crew has to come in and out so this was the next best thing. Not saying the design is the best, but it was not without consideration.
@@witchywoman165 You can see it do what it was supposed to here and blow up an M60 In a M113 you would have no chance at all The problem with its reputation is people compare it to tank guns, its not a tank gun. Its more like a jumbo RPG that's very accurate out to about 500m. The missile launcher is for longer range tanks. (Now that kind of sucks but thats a different story )
@@witchywoman165 Just saw this comment, but a few others covered it well too. The 73mm is a support cannon, not a anti tank weapon. The M113 was/is universally inferior to the BMP series. It is so lightly armored a DShK machine gun can penetrate the aluminum armor, No amphibious capability, it is not air sealed with a filtration system against chemical or nuclear threats, it is much higher profile making a easier target, and far less equipped for fighting. Sticking a 20mm on a M113 is a classic case of putting lipstick on a pig. You could put a 20mm or a Vulcan canon on a horse drawn wagon, would that make a good IFV? The Soviets invented the entire modern IFV concept and pioneered their use. As part of a combined arms assault, armor providing the spear head, and IFV fighting behind the armor, covering infantry assaults with heavy cover fire. The M113 in comparison was conceptually right out of WW2, nothing more than a cheap lightweight tracked transport, like a German halftrack but fully tracked and enclosed. It would have been halfway decent and utilitarian in WW2, but was horribly obsolete by the 1960s. While you also mention Ukraine, BMP-2 and BMP-3 have been used far more frequently and are significantly improved, including modern ATGM, 20/30mm autocannons, automatic grenade launchers, modern optics and thermals, and far better armor, even better armored than the Bradley, and the Bradley itself is a huge improvement on the M113, (yet still aluminum and lacks amphibious capability.) Of course BMP and M113, and Bradley's will die to any type of anti tank weapon, so that's not exactly a good point either, none are heavily armored compared to tanks, and can be destroyed easily with medium/large cannons, ATGM or light anti tank weapons like RPGs/ AT4. Being in any of those IFV if hit by such a weapon would make them all death traps, while Ukraine also did in fact receive hundreds of M113, and they are in fact dropping like flies and providing absolutely little to no fire support in the process, it's barley better than having trucks.
There is a bit of infantry (Kind of) In one of the missions you have to fight infantry TOW's, and of course you use your main gun, I'm pretty sure it was one of the american missions.
I'm really enjoying this new game. The graphics are beyond 🔥. The one I watched the other night with the flares and thermal features at night time was frickin' awesome!..not gunna lie, but I get excited when I see a new video posted. Thanks for sharing your content.
Why is comrade scared of using Malyutka anti tank missile? Is It too complex for comrade's brain to aim? Is comrade envious of american capitalist weapon that steers itself? Ask yourself, why american capitalist need weapon that steers itself? Is because american has no brain in head. Da? If american so smart, he would use manual missile like Malyutka instead. Now not joking, you did a pretty good job with the 73mm, quite the fast reflexes on that M-60.
I've had major problems since one of the last updates. I've had fun until about Christmas. Then, the computer started nailing me anywhere i appear. The opponent is nailing me through trees and sometimes it sees me even through freakin houses across several clicks. I even replayed the shots to see that there's entire forest inbetween me and the AI and they're shooting through trees. So what gives?
Hello man can you please send me your il2 graphics settings and your nvidia control panel settings my pc specs are rtx 2060 intel i7 9750h and 16gb ram but my game looks messed up on ultra aka trees have halftone leaves in distance etc its not good to play in ;(
Release the palm switch (RMB) and it will dump lead. The "drifting" is the lead compensation, which assumes you are tracking the target smoothly and shifts your aim point to land a hit on the moving target.
Main gun rounds travel in straight line? BMP-1 main gun is a glorified recoilless rifle, it's rounds should go with arched trajectory, with wind drift in the wrong direction (towards the wind).
They do fire in an arc as they're relatively low velocity however the longest shot he took was only just over 300m they don't drop much at those ranges
The projectile is rocket propelled after leaving the gun, fin stabilized too, it has a very straight trajectory for the first second or so while the rocket is burning , then it goes off and starts arching down from that point.
I hate the ATGM's on the BMP one. I for the life of me can't hit a stationary Target 300 m away with them but the AI is somehow able to hit me while I'm moving 40 km is an hour in an Abrams from one and a half kilometers away.
It's because it's not designed to be used at that range. 500m seems to be the official minimum range, otherwise there is not enough time for acquiring the missile and putting it on target. IIRC on BMP-1 you don't even see the missile at first, because it shoots above the reticle first.
@@Unknown1355 I said 300 m as way of saying I can't hit things even at close range with it. The actual range to the target doesn't matter because I will still miss.
There is a short dead zone where you don't have control and if you need to bring the missile down fast, it's very easy to overshoot or send it into the dirt. If they are in the 300m range, I find it best to depress the gun and bring the + at the top of the range markers on target or a bit below to send the missile out on a more direct path so you don't have to bring it down much. Spend some time on either firing range with it as well if you want as once you get the hang of it, it's becomes easier to hit moving targets, though the unstable flight still means you are going to have stupid misses every so often.
No, there were a number before it. However, the AT-3 Sagger was one of the few early generation items to be really successful and see continued development rather than outright replacement. There are still versions being used today.
What. BMP units are not able to perform like this at all. Almost no vision. Little strike ability. Very limited communication. Fear. Nothing but fear of being emulated in this vehicle. Set your game aside
