Because of this very video, I purchased the cage you've designed here and then went and purchased a BMPCC OG from B&H lol! Building a budget, mini cinema rig. I'm excited about it and my kid is excited and wants to start making short films with it. Thanks for reigniting the passion! 🤘📽
i got my cage with the added handle and HDMI cable lock last month and it's just a brilliant system. My OG is always the camera that gets tossed into my bag for out and about shooting and having this cage just gives me a whole bunch of confidence that everything is secure and not going to get damaged. Just so much care went into designing this cage! Excellent job! Alpha-plus!
Received mine last week! Great work done Will. Everything about the design and build is top shelf! Bravo. This is giving my BMPCC OG new life. If you are considering buying this for your unit, do so immediately without reservation. This is a great quality cage and accessories- built by a filmmaker for filmmakers.
I just bought my first BPMCC OG on eBay and as soon as the auction ended I got immediately paranoid about the HDMI port as I plan to use my FeelWorld monitor almost exclusively. I bought the cage, HDMI clamp, power adapter clamp, and clear screen protector. Hopefully it all works together with my Neewer cage/rail system that I currently use with my DSLR.
I’m ordering the whole kit tonight after work. Thanks Will. PS: I watched Heritage the other night and my wife and I enjoyed it. It looked really good too and I liked the colour grade.
Ordered it!!! Complete rig on its way. So now I have a used Panasonic 14-42 gx vario pz on its way and a metabones speedbooster for my geared canon fd lenses (24/50/70-210). Go a bunch of internal batteries and a charger now i need to order a NP-F plate and some Sony batteries and charger. Next on the list is irND filters. Not sure if I’ll go variable or not. Thoughts? Maybe a pro mist or glimmer glass, who knows. Then finally a follow focus and cine lens set down the road. Oh man then I still got to buy lights. This is going to be an expensive hobby lol.
This is an excellent job, congratulations! It's amazing to see how this magical little 2013 camera made you design this beautiful system in 2023, I feel like time traveling to a nostalgia that becomes tangible. Thank you and BMPCCOG ftw
Follow focus has less to do with the camera and more to do with lenses. Personally I like (and used for Heritage) the Tilta TT-03-GJ2. Great unit with very little backlash.
Nice cage/accessories for the good ole OG! Does anyone here use the rawlite filter on this cam? That's my only main issue with this camera. The moire is less than satisfactory. Curious to know 🎥
This is very exciting! I have a micro cinema camera and a smallrig cage my self, and several of these components look like they will work well for my camera as well. I will say that at first I was a little sad the Metabones/Viltrox adapter wasn't Smallrig 1864 compatible, but then you showed off the rails adapter, and that actually looks a lot more appealing to me, because I have a combination of lens adapters, and the only time I'm really concerned about any of the adapters being locked down is if they are on rails, and as it seems like the rail block would likely be compatible with the Smallrig Micro cage, the combination of those two have major appeal to me.
My advise would be to sell the smallrig cage now while you can get a good price and then buy my upcoming cage for the Micro. You won’t be disappointed ;) Thanks for watching!
There aren’t as many components, mostly because the Micro is so stripped down to begin with. But the cage itself has been retry meticulously designed. Built to be used in any possible setup.
Hate to hijack but are you planning on releasing a sigma fp cage? There are none on the market with cable locks. All the small rig cages have been discontinued.
I am! It may be a few months still.. with the re-release of the BM Micro camera I’ve thrown a lot of resources in getting that to market. But sigma FP is in the works and coming next 👍🏻
Hi Will, do you know if I can power the Bmpcc OG from the 7,4 V out of the NP-F adapter plate without damaging the camera? I realized it turns on when I use the 7,4 V out but not sure if its good for the camera
Unfortunately not :-/ I sent you a response on Instagram-basically because of the process these are made they must be done in bulk, so it isn’t possible to efficiently do one-offs in other colors. Sorry :-(
@@WillvonTagen Thank you for the answer, I understand that :) Do you have qny suggestions for some diy coloring? Spray painting or something similar could work, couldn't it?
@@Nagadosch There are some automotive interior dyes out there that could possibly work--specifically made to dye plastics. I have used these before for car restoration work and they do pretty well. You would probably want to rough up the surface a bit first, though. Take some light sand paper and then wipe it clean--this helps the dye/paint cling to the surface better.
So i have a tripod screw broken off and stuck into the bottom of the camera, tried everything to take it out but no luck. Will this cage be a good idea to buy given that it already has mounting holes?
Yes, you can still lock it securely into the cage with just the top mount and then you’ll have plenty of threaded points on the bottom for tripod use etc. 👍🏻
