I'm hoping somebody someday manufactures a working HUD. If there were a working HUD (camera, combining glass, etc.), does the BMS code allow the symbology to be extracted to it?
@@tommyzDad oh yes RTT can extract the HUD including the FLIR in the HUD as well. But all honestly real HUDs are more trouble then what they are worth. Any simulator setup like mine requires maintenance quite often I am moving the sim away from the screen. So having to readjust and center is more trouble then what it’s worth. Where I sit and my FOV I can’t tell the difference. Not forgetting having a HUD that is actually collimated is a challenge. There is a reason why most of the milspec sims don’t use real HUDs and just look through the glass with a HUD on the screen as I do. ;)
@m_rfio when ED releases a patch with something noteworthy for the falcon, yes. The past few months have been very dry for the f-16..... just fixes for random things specific players with specific scenarios have reported.
That was one of the coolest things i have ever seen regarding Flight simulations! Makes the wish more prevalent to have either enough money or a nack for building to build something myself. Unfortunately, i have neither -_- One question if I may: I watched some of your other Videos and it seems you never clear the test-error page. Has that a deeper meaning, or are you just aware, that these are false messages and so you dont bother clearing them? Thanks!
The test error pages are cleared after engine start to clear the automatic errors on startup. After that you want to keep the errors on the page throughout the flight as they are recorded for the ground crew upon completion of the flight.
Hey VS, I also bought my curved screen from Simpit, and yes It was very over priced and their customer service is yuk! I'm thinking about painting mine, because the image just looks "grainy" to me. I'm running 2 Optoma projectors on mine. What "flaws did you sort out with yours? Your Pit looks awesome man! I've been trying to get the base fire dept to give me their cockpit trainer, but they keep saying NO!!!🤣
Yeah you nailed it. Customer service wasn’t the best. I honestly don’t have enough space to type it all but. He did some shady bullshit move to avoid shipping and packed mine with another US customer which delayed my screen by almost 5 weeks. When it showed it there must have been well over 75 pieces with no assembly manual other than an assembled 3D image of the screen that was not even my screen to begin with. Turns out the four major support poles were not included and he claimed the “customs must of have stole them”. Lol. Assembling was a night mare as I had to take reassemble the legs about four times before I got it right. The build in projector mounts on the screen ended up being too low, thus I could not use them and had to mount my projectors to the ceiling (which ended up being a thing as have lots of room to climb in the cockpit). Then the little bolt to clamp the adjustable legs was insufficient and kept slipping so I had to purchase some good quality pipe collars to hold the screen up. Just a complete shit show! I thought about doing a video to call out all his bullshit but I just let it go. In the end I have the screen setup the way I like it now. But it cost me $9000 and it shouldn’t have been more than $1200 bucks.
@@RainmanHST Man, that same shit happened to me with the legs to mine! He gave me that same customs must have stolen it bullshit! He sent more, but it set me back a bit. Dude is horrible! Wouldn't recommend him to anyone reading this! Steer clear!! Definitely gonna paint the screen tho, because of the aformentioned grainy look and it has scratches in it from being moved around. Good stuff man, I thought I was the only one who had a bad experience with Simpit.
@@bigblackahuna7815 that’s incredible. What a moron! For mine I can say the ONLY good thing about it was the actual screen. I was shocked as hell when I unwrapped it and it wasn’t damaged or scratched. You and I are not the only ones. I know of three other guys who’ve had a bad experience with Tom.
This pit is great! I am currently starting building my own, and have a question: how do you manage looking up with your curved big screen and how did you make it? I dont want to use track IR to look up, and VR has also drawbacks. I would love to build a dome, but thats difficult and needs space. How do you do it?
There are quite a few companies you can purchase a curved screen from. I bought mine from Simpit but in the end it turned out to be very, very over priced with a few flaws that I had to sort out. So I wouldn’t recommend them. Abs honestly guys like the warthog project are making them themselves at a FRACTION compared to what I paid. I do believe he has a tutorial on it as well.
@@RainmanHST I also have a question about the curved screen. Im thinking of getting one of those ultra wide screens, 32:9 (samsung g9 neo), which is not close to what you have but hey, a bit closer! But ive read online of people having problem with FOV etc, that you dont get more screen real estate.. Atleast in DCS, it seems its the same 16:9 image but more stretched out on the sides /fisheye lens effect. Is that a problem you've had, and if so, how did you solve it?
@@eknib yes BMS does have a FOV limit. It will take some time but I have been working with the Devs to get view ports implemented like DCS. So it’s on the list of things to be added. VR was on the higher priority list and that’s done now so hopefully we can get the view ports added soon.
Yea depends on the laptop. Lots of the Devs use their laptops. I don’t know much about laptops but I understand there are some pretty good gaming ones out there?
