AutoTopNL thank you so much again for reviewing this awesome car!!! I am still super happy with my 130i !!!...it also has done 200.000km plus and still feels as new!! i drive it fast and nothing has gone wrong with it in the last 100.000km exept a abs ring failure...thats it!!!! Tip for 130i owners,or other cars with N52 engine, change the engine oil every 10-12 k kilometers or 6 months...the engine loves it and defenately deserves it !! :-) the last NA 6 in line in a rwd hatchback is just awesome! Next to all the incredible super and hypercars you guys test it is so cool to see something like this for a change! Keep them coming guys! top job!
Been driving my 130i for 5 years. It never get boring and I never get over the looks, sound and feel. Especially when next to a newer f series Bimmer at a traffic light and you can see the look on the other drivers face like "wtf why does that old 1 series sound like that" LOL
I can see these starting to go up in value a bit. When people realise it’s the last NA straight 6 rwd manual BMW hot hatch. I’ve been looking at these for a while. I remember first seeing it vs a R32 on Topgear
My grandpa has an e46 330i 2003 with 80,000 kilometers (he uses it periodically like for road trips), it may not sound as much, but roads in my country are really tough, and the engine is still buttery smooth and everything is just like new, no strange noises except for that incredible inline 6
I have the same engine\trans in a 5 series touring, they are pretty low cost to import from Japan, the motor and trans are so good, with 1000lbs less weight to lug around and RWD only, mmmm could be pretty satisfying.
Great car, great sound, great feel and naturally aspirated what more could u want..love it how he says not going to set any records of speed so watch this video (click link) then can't help himself and floors it haha..that's the 130 willing you to press it!!😁
We got an '07 120d and even tho it's a diesel and not that powerful, it still drives amazingly and the grip levels are amazing. It's a go-kart with a trunk
I really wish they sold the E87 in the USA. The closest we got was the E82 128i with the 228 hp N52B30 engine and the 135i as well. I would argue the E82 coupe is much more handsome than the E87 hatchback though.
I’ve got the e90 330i, same n52 engine... An honest to god beast, the way it rev’s, the noise it makes, quite literally always puts a smile on my face when I drive it! Old school man.
I got so much love for this car, I knew I have to own one since I got my first E87 118D, this car already made fun and I was just fantasizing how nice it would be with a R6. So I bought one some months ago and my love for this car is growing with every drive and mod. And this video also helped me alot with my decision when I saw it the first time.
@@AntzolY111 You mean the F-model series? No they didn't ruin it. It's probably one of the best looking BMWs in their history. Wait until the G-models comes out!
@@tenpenny2919 Well I like few F BMWs the F10 5 is okaay F30 3 series is decent but other not much.Well I must admit M2 is great too. G is really ugly.
3 years ago, I bought a E81- 116i 2.0L - M Paket from 2009 as my first car. Its not that fast but its really fun to drive! Im looking forward to buy a 130i in the future :P
Nice review! This car actually was mine. I fitted the M3 control arms, M3 anti roll bar front, E93 335i rear anti roll bar (not control arms) and the alcantara wheel. Drove 60.000km with it and enjoyed everyone of it! On my channel there are a few video's of the car on track.
I am currently owning a '06 330i sedan with N52 engine and I would love to swap it for a manual 130i coupe or hatchback. A proper car for proper drivers
And in my opinion this drives and feels like a class bigger car in terms of freeway driving and daily basis, compared to "regular" FWD hot hatches. Not so far from 3- or 5-series.
As with all your videos Alex, this one was great. I am about to collect a 2011 330i E92, with 26.000 original kilometers, manual gearbox, and I am wondering how gorgeous this N53B30 engine will perform. I do not live in Europe, as a matter of fact I do live in Colombia, and although we do not have such wonderful highways, it is still some how pleasant to drive these kind of cars.
I would have killed to have one of these in America. I’m fortunate to have the 128i, which is awesome, but a 4 door hatch with this motor just seems like the perfect car. Hopefully I can maybe find a good one to import when the 25 year limit is up. Great video.
I have a 2010 E89 Z4 30i with the 258hp version of this engine.. It being the last NA inline 6 by BMW made it more special to me than a 35i.. Don't really need more power anyway for fun daily driving..
Mine was great until it needed front window mechanisms, rear wiper motor, abs rings and sensors, multiple EML, etc etc etc... Bmw really messed up around the mid 2000’s onwards with quality.
@@maximusmadman I drive around 60.000km to work every year. Never had a better vehicle. Only thing that I had to change were the 4 shock absorbers and the agr thermostat and the Battery in 250.000km. I bought the car with 180.000km in 2016.
Ci vuole un bel coraggio ad andare a quelle velocità con asfalto bagnato, soprattutto con quella potenza e la trazione posteriore. It takes a lot of courage to go at those speeds with wet asphalt, especially with that power and rear-wheel drive.
I've been looking for one of these for quite a while now but they are just a bit too expensive. I guess just because they are not as common as other models.
It doesnt get love because it looks boring, it isnt ugly, just uninteresting. Good because people miss out on it and without the m package its a real sleeper
