Res Non Verba Yeah, but surely having a voice control to mean you don’t have to take your hands off the wheel. How is that not better?

@@cinnamonrage I can of course understand your point, but if one is unable to change controls in the car without having an accident, one shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car in the first place. This time, effort and cost could be far better spent elsewhere in my opinion.

Res Non Verba I’m sure that the argument that people using mobile phones while driving make. Also, less of an issue in the BMW as it has physical controls for heating but in an older car with less smart voice assistant, I still use it to set destinations hands free. In a Volvo with touch screen and heating under menus, it’s a good thing. The industry should actively do more of this. Additionally, what should they be working on?

@@cinnamonrage For anyone with a modicum of common sense, holding a telephone should not be an issue. The issue is the concentration needed to maintain a phone call whilst driving. Suffice to say, that remains a problem if hands-free. This new-tech conversation is relating to new cars, not older vehicles. Voice assist for sat. nav. is a good thing - when it works, but gesture controls are just gimmicky. What should they be working on? Where does one start? Cleaner, greener, faster, better handling, cheaper and simply more fun vehicles. R and D, quality, dealer-networks, after-sales, reducing servicing costs.. etc, etc. The list is rather long..
