Hey mate ive got an f30 and i was wondering if the repair kit they do for the racks will solve the issue of play in the rack arm itself ever so slight on up and down?
I have the same car when car was jacked up rhe damaged the hiusing of the of the electric motor i replace but steering wheel still hard to turn any ideas. Before it was damaged it worked fine
The electric motor of the steering box contains a module that must be programmed in the car's computer, if you do not have services that can do this, I advise you to go to a BMW representative to do this for you.
Hi there, I have an F30 320D, the steering is quite heavy sometimes and also there is a problem when trying to keep the steering straight. The steering feels like it’s notchy, the steering feels like it doesn’t want to stay right in the middle, it either moves a little to the left or right, a little bit like there is a notch in the middle. It’s quite hard to keep the car straight especially on long stretches of road as I have to keep adjusting the steering from left to right as it steers to one side if I try to hold it straight for a while. I got the wheel alignment done but it doesn’t solve the notchy feeling of the steering which causes the car to veer to one side. Any ideas on what it could be? Could it be the drive belt or the steering bushing or would you say the steering rack is just gone?
have you done the steering rack thrust piece upgrade? That might help. its around 60 bucks & then make sure to do your steering angle sensor calibration afterwards

Le hice los cambios de aceite motor, aceite diferencial, transmisión. Pero no encuentro como se cambia el liquido de dirección. Veo en videos con otros modelos de BMW que abren el capo y esta a la derecha el deposito de dirección. Pero el mío no lo veo por ningún lado. Entonces pienso que llevara otro sistema. Que también llevara su liquido de dirección para poder cambiarlo. Sabría usted decirme donde esta?¿
drove over a pool of water by mistake took my steering rack apart but it seems that my steering Rack Bearing is not serviceable becasue there is no nut to take apart the steering bearing or maybe i don't knwo how ot take it apart? . part# F-562525.04-0061-CC Do you have any experience with that part by any chance ? anyways thanks for the vid
Great video, the steering motor setup looks identical to my 2014/15 Range Rover vogue? My problem is the three aluminium bolts have snapped😳 now the belt seemed to survive and have drilled out the snapped bolts and bought zinc ones and have refitted it all, i am just a bit confused as to why there is no tensioner on the belt setup??? The reason i ask is that i refitted the old belt first time and it seemed to work-ish it just has an intermittent belt scrub which has me confused about there being no tensioner, can you shed any light on this for me please
Did you ever find out this information? I have a crack on the control until from an accident and really wanted to know if JUST this part can be purchased and replaced and not the entire thing.
Hi Jhams, Thanks for your video, very helpfull. All 3 bolts have broken off and I have two questions. Do you know the length of all three bolts? Can the thread next to the broken bolts also be used in the servo motor? Or does this thread have another function? Can I perhaps send you a photo by email?
Yes, the threaded holes are specially made to be used in case of broken screws. the length is approx. 70mm, You can go to a BMW dealer and buy them there.
Omg I just found this helpful video, my f30 335i msport steering box bolts are soaked in yellowish oil, is that a sign of something is failing that needs to be replaced! Thanks

Had a garage diagnose a bad track rod end (wheel had play when pulled at 9-3) but when i got it repaired there was nothing wrong with it and the play was coming from steering rack, symptoms are swaying at high speed and a wobbly vibrating sensation and difficulty keep the car stable, any ideas why theres pkay and how to fix???
Try redoing the steering angle, then a recalibration of the steering wheel angle, it should solve the stability, for vibration see the centering of the wheels on the bearings or the large bushings of the arms on the front. Success
Hi, good job. I replace the belt, but I don't see any belt adjuster. and now when I turn the wheel to end righ and left sound like the belt is loosen 😢
Loosen the fixing screws and use a lever to force a little between the body of the steering box and the electric motor. Tighten the screws in place. Have a good trip..
First of all, check if those screws are broken, then if you have enough voltage in the battery, if everything is ok, put a tester, it is possible that it is an electronic error.

@@JHAMS-007-car-repair please i have similar issues, sometimes steering wheel becomes heavy turning, sometimes it becomes very smooth, DTC indicate that ICM transmitter invalid etc what do i do, just bought the car from garage with such problems
I replaced the gear belt to my car but sometimes when I park the car or getting out of a parking the steering wheel get hard and a steering wheel warning light turn on what i do is I turn off the car and turn on the car and I get steering assistance back again, any ideas what can be the problem?
