The 5gt is one of the best cars that bmw made in my opinion.Back when it came out people don’t really understand it and the first gen pretty much failed because of that and obviously the reliability .But it opened up a lot of things for bmw and its so practical and versatile that you get the road quality and comfort of a seven series and the space of a suv and yet kept the good performances.And when people finally understand it they already came out with the 6gt.
The advantage of clay is, that you can see it in real life, especially important for the interior of a car. You can sit inside, discuss topics like distance to steering wheel, displays or knee impact surfaces etc.
This 5 GT is one of the SEXIEST cars ever built by BMW!!! She’s not black nor white, neither indian nor chinese, she’s a beautiful breed of different types. She offers the best that everyone has to offer, ie: space, performance, handling etc. all wrapped up in one. Ppl are so used to a straight up 2dr/4dr car or SUV, that a stunner like this catches you totally off guard, the one thts nt recognized till she smiles at you, makes you say hey yr beautiful after all!!!... It’s actually insane how ahead of the future they were back in 2008 because this car looks brand new today.. those kidney grills are starting to become a modern trend in BMWs lineup.

I assume you are talking about finished models?! 50% of that depends on money. How you build your designs is important. Alias was trendy then 2004 and you can do a whole car assuming you are good with 3D software to translate your design. I did clay as suggested by my instructor. But yes actual translation of 2D to 3 D is crucial to car companies.
The video is old from 2008-2009. That was the pre-design. There were 3 competitive designs. Still my favorite daily driver car. The car is spacious from inside and outside. Built on 7 series chassis and the headroom is exactly as in the X5. I wish they made the kidney grill as big as on 9:15 It would be awesome though. Almsot , the same one on BMW Vision next 100
I knew it! It is the younger generation designers and certainly also the Transformers fan that is the origin of today's extremely pointed and angular design. Is there no middle ground? German cars are actually ok but many other car brands have one for extreme design.
I wish they spent half as much time working on oil pans that didn't leak, window regulators that didn't break after 5 years, and water pumps that lasted longer than 80,000 miles. I'm so done with them.
I wouldn't say too many. I am Art Center 2004. There is a reason why if "too many." I just started claying a model a month ago. I did clay in 2003-2004 at school. It all came back to me in 2 weeks. BUT! If you are going to attend Art Center, ask and talk to students and graduates. Art is cultural. My instructor included an Ferrari Enzo designer and Toyota designer. My point is they all teach how they see "art." Anyhow, I know I enjoyed my terms. Another one! The companies who sponsor is very important so choose wisely.

It is done by hand. The CNC's cut the car 1/2" larger than the design, and the clay is worked down, from there, by hand. They use a variety of measuring and contour gauges/lasers, etc...keep in mind these people are artists on a very high level.
we are getting a good view of the design of the artists face real close up. well. I came for the car not that interested in ultra close up of the artists face.
