Hi. There is a plastic bolt on the bottom of the radiator that could be unscrewed with fingers. I used a piece of hose that I found nearby me. It was about 1/2 inch inside diameter but not sure about exact fit. Mine was a bit loose but did the job. You don't really need a hose if you have large pan Under the radiator.

I just tried removing my fan from my 2008 528xi. However, it appears you neglected to mention there is a 2” Hose running parallel to the bottom of the fan that’s attached to clamps similar to the clamp found on the passenger side of the fan. Why did you not mention the necessity to to first remove the parallel hose at the bottom. This hose prevents the fan from moving upward.

@@carmelom269 I know why I didn't mention. :) In my case, someone else before me broke the plastic clips and the hose underneath is not connected to the fan. It's just up in the air. But you are right, there suppose to be plastic clips that hold the hose.

Stanislav Oleynik Thank you for acknowledging that grave omission. Also, at 1:42 of your video, you understated and misrepresented the significance of moving the passenger side hose. I believe you stated all one has to do is just slightly push the hose back toward the engine. But, again that’s not accurate because that hose is actually fastened attached to the clamp bolted to the fan frame. So you should have directed viewers to first detach the hose from the clamp then push back toward the engine to create space. Those clamps are significant as I wasted several hours trying figure out why I could get the fan to release upward as the hoses were all attached to the surrounding clamps. But, thank you for your effort and for sharing your DIY info on this project. Although I may sound critical please know I’m also appreciative.

In my case, I cleared the code and it never came back. Now it's almost 8 months and everything works perfect! Not only this, due to thermostat, there might be bunch of other staff like sudden halt of the engine (computer turns it off to prevent overheating), high pressure in the coolant system causes other components to fail like cracks/holes in hoses or expansion tank.

I have 2008 e60 528i. Even though you have a full-drive version, you should probably have the same front frame bar that you can use to lift up the BMW. After lifting the vehicle be sure to add few jack-stands to secure the car! I used jack-stands on the sides of the car where you usually use the jack. There should be little triangles under the front doors, showing where you need to place the jack or jack-stands.

@@waspsps Yes, I found the center frame support block. I could not see before because the front engine cover was masking it. Once I removed the screws and cover, the center frame support was revealed and I now used be able to use a trolley jack to lift vehicle from center so I can then use two Esco Flat Top jacks stands with and Custom BMW Jack Pad adapters

Is your steering wheel located on the left-side (like U.S. cars) or the Right Side. I just noticed I have a plethora of hoses and pipes blocking access to both the electrical connector and the two screws on the thermostat that do not appear in your video. It looks like I need to first remove all that extra hosing and piping just to access the electrical connector which makes me think you’re working on a completely different E60 than mine.

@@carmelom269 , I have the regular left-sided e60. I'm in California, so it's US model, not Great-Britan or right-sided steering wheel. Hopefully, it helps.
