Good looking car you have there fella, you really come across as loving that car. I owned an E36 B2.5 Alpina saloon back in the 90's, was a lovely car to drive and looked so bloody good...

I just bought an 07 and I'm in love with it already. Was a bit concerned about it being a diesel performance wise as last car was mrk 1 tt running mods and remap. But the alpina is no slouch and drives 100% just hope it dosnt give me any bother...fingers crossed.

great car, hard to imagine new Alpina E9X D3 Bi-Turbo was only a grand more expensive than E9X 320d, crazy value, even now you can get E90 and E91 D3s for under 10k euros, only E92 is a bit pricier but E92 Alpina is one of the best looking things that even came out of BMW factory, probably my top 5 alongside 2002 turbo, old E24 6 and E31 8 series and newer F06 6 series gran coupe

And you put budget tyres on it and got rid of the fantastic pilot super sports. Obviously a connoisseur.

I agree, unfortunately at that point in time I couldn't afford to stick a pair of Pilot sports on the back and I needed to get about, it is now running on Conti's though... The car is a connoisseurs car and i'm far from a being one of them, I'm one of them who likes a packet of peanuts (dry roasted) and a pint not caviar and wine... :)

Blue color would fit to that Alpina way better,and...why didnt paid for the HID xenon lights??? I really dont understand people who order Alpina and then stripped it from the most beautiful options...

Lovely car. Alpina has a very special place in my heart. Back in 1993 my father bought a 1990 e32 Alpina B12 based on the 750. Id love to have my own alpina one day :)

This is nice. I haven't got that much experience of driving loads of different cars. So when I drive mine I think it's the best. I don't really want to change that. This guy seems to have a similar attitude.

Without seeing it next to another standard 3-Series of the same era, you'd be hard pushed to tell what Alpina have done to the car visually....but it just looks sooooo much cooler.

Nice Video. There is currently a D3 for sale on Pistonheads website but it has a BMW badge on the Steering wheel instead of an Alpina one. Please can anyone tell me why? It has the plate and everything else and I believe its real.

Lovely rare car mate... , teach them youngsters what 'Alpina' means ! haha ! I lived in Coventry 25 years ago, the roads were bad even 'then' ! Love the alloys ..

I know this might sound crazy- but have you considered putting higher profile wheel/tires on it? Sounds like you daily it in the UK.. which from everything I see has HORRIBLE road surfaces in cities (lovely place, but your city planners must hate performance cars). Anyway, more sidewall = a little more cushion, and a lot less popped tires from potholes. Also, you can keep the factory wheels and put something stupidly sticky on them, so when you DO want to have that low-profile craziness, you can go 110% Just my thoughts. This is probably one of the best diesels I've seen, and for a "normal" car, one of the best. (normal meaning 4 doors, 4 seats, boot, etc). Obviously there's cars that have more zip, but 50mpg? Not too bad ;)

Del Johnson It's not the typical Alpina ballistic weapon, I agree, but it's cool to see them take a kinda sluggish car and just make an all around car that uses diesel that I'd actually want. This is like the perfect compliment to a "non daily drive-able" car.

+Del Johnson The 2.0d engined car was a homage to Alpinas owner Andreas Bovensiepen who was one of the drivers in the 1998 le mans winning car, a BMW 320d

+K Dabal When you have wheels like that, it's inevitable. Way too easy to scrap them, sometimes just going into a driveway and your rear slightly scrapes the raised pavement at the edge... impossible to keep them perfect. It's fixable so once it gets bad you can send them in somewhere to get restored.
