Don’t forget there are only 2 brakes sensors for the entire car drivers front and rear passenger …..they are length specific and soooo easy to change out …..
THANX! Your's was the only video that included thee very important first step, push the BC until you get the time and mileage. Other videos I watched left that out and frustrated the hell out of me.
I would like to thank you for explaining that very important step, push the BC until you get the time and mileage. I tried so many times watching other videos, AND NOTHING. Finally I saw your video and got the pad wear cleared in my 2013 M3. The dealer wanted $90.00 to do it. I did have an extra step when I started the car the next time, to click OK in the vehicle status, but all the trouble because I put new StopTech BBK on the car. Thank you so MUCH for your video!! Now you ask how did I get the light to reset with no indicator? EASY, use a dolphin splice for telephone wire. You dont even have to strip the wire and twist, just slide over the two wires and compress with pliers, it makes great contact and completes the circuit. Thanks again
Dude. Thank you so much for this video. My dad has spent hours trying to get his brake sensor light to reset following all the crazy RU-vid videos out there. Cheers to you!
If you try to reset the light and you get _ _ _ _ _ after reseting and the light does not extinguish, you need to change the sensors. I had this problem. I changed both front and rear pads and the sensors (got them off of ebay for $25 total, non OEM). Once I changed everything I followed the video and wholla... worked perfect. No more lines, light was extinguished and gauge was reset to 32,000. Thanks Mark you the man... !
Thanks so much. Concise and the proper procedure. Thought I had done something wrong while installing the sensor on my 328i, but the other video I watched showed an incorrect method. Saved me a trip to the dealer.
I changed my discs and pads + sensors all around. I have reset them before, however, I forgot the procedure. Watched this, followed as you a stated and it worked. Thanks a lot! (BMW E90 335i)
Mate your a hero. Had watched a few vids before seeing yours. They didn’t work . Yours did first time. Clear simple on the money instructions. Thanks very much
Omg. Dude you are a genius. It worked for my 2007 335i coupe. After driving my car with the red brake light and the car on the lift. Very annoying, specially after knowing that my car didn't need the brake pads or the sensors. The brake light came on after I painted my brake calipers. Your method works 100%. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Thanks. Worked for me. Much appreciated. One thing that was different for me though is the part at the yellow triangle. I had hold the odometer reset down and in about a two second window hit the BC button to get to reset. If I held it too long the triangle went away, if I let go of the odometer reset it started me over. So for those of you who can't get it to reset, hold odometer reset down and as soon as triangle appears hit the BC button(with odometer reset still depressed). It should then enter reset menu.
Thanks for posting this Video Mark. My 2011 BMW 323i had the same issue even though I had new brake pad. I just got it reset after watching your Video.
Man your the BEST!!! thank you so much!!! I've been trying to fix this light for 3 months now!!! I change front and rear brake pads and sensors, and the brake light didn't reset after trying to reset it the way I was told on other sites and vidoes. This is the only one video that worked for me. You are a genius!! Thanks so much
dude you are the mannnnn!!!!! i went to mavis to get the code cleared and the guy was talking about having to take the car to another shop that has a more advanced machine to clear it blah blah!. i have new pads ans sensors and was still getting the brake light and no reset.....I knew it was a simple task and after watching this video it worked like a charm!!! thanks so much +HowHeDoIt
Very helpful. I had to press the BC button until the rear brake image appeared and then selected reset for it to work (not just pressing BC button once) thanks - worked like a charm!
congratulations friend I have gone to 3 different places in Mexico and they couldn´t do what I just did in 1 minute and all thanks to your video i have a 325i 2012 and it had the same problem with the new sensor, thank you so much you are a genious or at least you read the bmw manuals.
Great job mate. Did a service used a Launch OBD and a Bosch OBD neither would clear. Just changed front pads and discs inc sensor, watched your vid and hey cleared the lot :-) thank you.
Great video! And if BMW is reading this, how about being able to go to the menu and select service, brake pads, and reset: yes/no? Why does it have to be so freaking complicated? Really starting to HATE BMW. I've owned a 2002, multiple E36s, E39, E83 and now this E84.
Many thanks, this worked on my right hand drive 320d in australia too! Only problem is that while the light has home away it only reset the kilometer counter too 16,000 for the rear breaks. In reference the fronts after they got replaced say 80,000.
It worked for me THANK YOU. actually, i did not replace the pads, just the rear ensor. When the light came on, i checked the pads and noticed there almost new....so did not replace them just the sensor which btw was $18 at autozone......it worked like a charm...thanks you saved me a couple of benjamins... Im guessing the previous owner did not reset on replacement.
Well you get a thumbs up from me I have an E46 just cleared the error codes on the ECU using my phone the brake light still didn't clear, just held the BC button down while one switch the ignition with the key I think this did it, cleared the brake light anyway so for me your video helped so you get a thumbs up.
Hi mate hope you doing well I have done your way it’s work ok But the problem I have while I press the reset Botton the little clock is rotating it’ come with this sing ( mil - - - - - - ) it doesn’t give mileage ?????
I have a 335i 2007 and I had a mechanic look at my break pads and they are good but the break light appears in yellow is this early warning about my break pads, if so I still would like to reset my break light will this work I'm my car? Also how much would a new sensor cost for my break pads?
Great video .ASE certified , kept getting the rear wear sensor code . checked resistance , continuity . would clear with Snapon ot Autel and would come back in 1 second . Nothing worked except this method which I am led to believe is a mileage bug put in with a rouge code on purpose .
Great video - having replaced both the front brake pads and wear sensor I've just reset the front brake pad wear warning indicator first time on my 2009 UK spec 318d E91 using this procedure. Many thanks!!
What are some good reliable break pads and rotors you guys recommend I think OEM price are exaggerating a bit but I don't want to get anything that will give me problems in the future I got an 09 328i coupe
I also have found that this works fine if the car is running. You can crank the car, wait for warning lights to turn off waiting for gauge to reach where it indicates outside temp, THEN hold down odometer reset. Orange triangle will appear after a few seconds, THEN hold in BC button and momentarily you will enter reset menu.
Mark, I have the same BMW in the video and I'm having a problem resetting the brake light. After I follow the instructions as shown and after the resetting of the breaks there are no miles for the next change it reads ---------! What do I need to do to get the number of miles back after I reset my break light?
My parking brake light stays on in the low lit yellow. When I pull the parking brake it turns red. It just never completely turns off. Any ideas? And great video, simple and easy to follow. Thanks man.
hi mark most helpfull video thank you .i have done exactly same thing i manage to reset but kilometres comes back to zero not like yours yours ending up 43 000 mine stays on 0 any idea?
btw, to actually DO the reset on each option, once you finally are able to reach the reset menu, you choose what option you want to reset one at a time. Choose the selected option, then you HOLD IN the BC button until it indicates it is actually resetting. A clock type indicator will show up as it resets and you then move on to the next option you want to reset.
This fixed my problem - i replaced both sensors and thought by driving it would go away. Nope not in the Bimmer... have to have a special sequence to fix.
Hi mark, I did everything you said on video a few times but I’m not able to clear the brake light. Do u need to drive car after or am I doing something wrong. I hope you can help me or someone else please
David King, I had same issue after shop replaced my rear break pads, So, I bought the sensor from the dealer, and replaced it. It fixes problem and it shows now 41K miles for the next rear pads repair.
I'm following your exact steps and the yellow triangle illuminates very briefly; maybe 1/4 of the time in the video. After that, it does not go into any sort of service reset menu or anything, it just does nothing else. Any thoughts?
I'm hoping that you can also help out. I have a 2008 328i and replaced front pads and the sensor and when I go to start the procedure (Insert Key and push the on/off button) I'm getting a yellow explanation signal and can't get it to leave. What's going on?
Thanks Mark! I'm working with a 2008 X3 and it goes somewhat different but I had no idea what to do and I figured it out based on what's shown in your video, so thanks a lot for that.
thank you I have a 2009 328I m sport coupe just did all pads and the two sensors was trying to figure out how to reset even though no warning came on, because before I had 10K miles left on my rear so since I just change them hopefully resting it will make the millage on the brakes go up you know what I mean?
I tried it didn't work on my 335d, it gets to reset but it stays clear won't show mileage, and lights still on. any suggestions. i know brakes are good.
