This video demonstrates an easier way to code rather than using shady software. Very easy to use app. BE AWARE! The VGate (recommend in video) is longer the recommended OBD II adapter. The MX+ or equivilant are now recommended.
Wow! This video is just what I was looking for. At Bob's recommendation, I purchased a Vgate iCar 2 Mini ELN327 OBD II WiFi car diagnostic scan tool off Amazon for less than $20 (it was delivered the same day), downloaded the BimmerCode app, plugged the Vgate OBD2 into my car, and within 10 minutes, I had coded away the annoying legal disclaimer, and set my mirrors to fold using the remote or comfort lock. The whole process was easy and well worth it. I also set the audio to shut off when the driver's door is opened.
Please be aware....recently the Bimmercode guy added more functionality. The VGate adapter still works, but doesn't support everything anymore. To get the best functionality you must have a MX+ OBD II adapter or equivilent. (See Amazon or Ebay). I didn't notice until I attempted to code a couple more things.
YES it will VOID your warranty in the US. However, you could go to your bac up (on the app) and revert all the changes before taking your i3 to a Bimmer shop.
Well hate it or love it, E-Sys is actually what the professionals use to code a car, update module firmware, load FSC enabling codes required for certain retrofits,... What BMW developers use to develop, test and reconfigure their software. A non-pro can easily code using Bimmercode and will not be likely to make a mistake. But the engineering behind the user interface and the physical interface in the cars OBD port can be flawed, things can go wrong even if it's not human error. In the pro world coding over a wireless connection is a big no-go even if it is performed with expensive professional tools. In the hands of a pro who can debug and solve the unavoidable errors E-Sys is the tried and trusted go-to and you are able to perform everything you can image on a car if you know a. How to operate the application, b. How the software on the modules works and c. How E-sys modifies the software. It doesn't happen very often but it does occur that people using Bimmercode, Carly and alikes fuck up their car and then come over to the professionals who can recover those errors.
BimmerCode does not actually do “coding” (writing new code) or hacking or jailbreaking. It just changes settings. They can be reset to factory default without the car being “reprogrammed”.
Hi, there are one or two things that simply won't code (ie turn signals 5 blinks on 5series), but other than one or two minor things, it's really great and easy to use. If you get errors, the first thing you should try to do is set the "communication" in settings to "slow communication". Once I did that it was perfect.
Great Videos!! Question about coding, I’m working on a 2013 M5 and want to put some race seats in. I have seen on the Bimmer code App, that I can code the seat belts light/alarm, what about the Air bag sensor in the seat…Any Idea wow to code the fault light? Thanks a lot!!
This is always a touchy subject, and is very dependent on circumstances and dealership...let's say you code folding mirrors. Suddenly your transmission acts up and needs replacement which is unrelated to coding your mirrors...so 99.9% of dealerships would cover this. Now if your mirror suddenly quits working after coding the folding, they could technically delcline your claim. Hope this kinda makes sense.
„If you crash while watching a movie on the highway, it’s covered by the warranty, because you didn’t change anything about the engine...“ Warranty experts on RU-vid.
i just got my BMW i3. do you not have the light color already in the settings menus under lighting? i do on might or are you just wanting to do this through the bimmercode too?
Which Vgate version is better, Bluetooth or Wireless? Also if I reset to factory can the dealer or BMW detect I had coded the car? I don’t want warranty hassles.
First of all, Thanks for your video. I have 2015 i3 with no comfort access. So I only can fold and unfold side mirrors with a button right above the window switches. Can I change this to make side mirrors auto folded when I press lock botton with key fob and unfolded when I press unlock botton?
Wait, wait, wait... "DVD Area code"?!?! There's no optical drive in the i3. I'm assuming that's for other cars with optical drives; but it makes me wonder, if I plug a USB DVD drive in to the "media USB" port under the center armrest, will it play a DVD?
2006 e60 530i 3.0l, my car was down for about six months but the battery did not go dead, once I got it back up and running the windshield wipers displayed some odd behavior. when I would turn them on they would move very slow for about 8-10 wipes then stop in the middle of the window I could repeat this 2 times then you would have to power cycle the car before they would come back on. A friend told me seems like they may have lost their programming. Can the bimmer app code the wipers? Have you ever experience anything like this before, any help would be appreciated.
I think there is an issue beyond coding. I don't think bimmercode will work for you. Sound like the wiper motor is dying maybe. Overheats, stops, then on restart goes thru the same thing.
Hi, I have 430 convertible 2018 and I try to coding the mirror, I have error message (in app purchases could not be loaded please make sure that you are connected to the internet) Could you help me? I bought Vgate icar pro Thank you
I assume you are using Bimmercode. You must have an itunes or google app account. They will charge it $29 to get the functional version. Is this what you are talking about?
Hi, It's in the "Front Electronic Module". There is two places for it to function correct. First "Unfold mirrors when unlocking with comfort closing", then "Fold mirrors when locking vehicle with comfort closing". Once you've done both, it should work. ;)
Actually the "Bimmercode" guy now recommends using the MX+ OBD adapter. Apparently the adapter has 'ram' and even my Vgate can't do everything anymore. You can try, but may not be able to do everything you want to code.

It might look very easy but it wont look easy but if you fry up The ECU... It will not Look So Easy so..Always let the professional deal with your car coding... dont risk it for a biscuit
LOL! You've described why Bimmercode is great for beginners. It backs up whatever you're trying to code first. If you mess up you can always back it up. If you are using a laptop and E-SYS I would possibly agree with you.
@@nxdboi uh.... Bimmer = BMW car. Beamer = BMW motorcycle. If you're a die-hard BMW guy, you would know the difference. You're apparently not. Educate yourself before you insult.
