I had a 324D 1990 Worldline (white) during 17 years and 330.000 km. No problem at all, no failure, except injection pump to rebuild each 100.000 km. Great car, able to be fast, but lack of power (only 87 ch...), 324TD was better with 143 ch.
d00mer 34 It's a diesel engine-the roughness comes from the high compression ratio(still low for a diesel) and from it being a swirl chamber diesel. More cylinders just make it distribute the force on the crankshaft more evenly(feels good), but doesn't help with roughness.
@@brausepaxlul6295 m21 and m51 both had 22:1 bar static compression ratio. Modern BMW diesels have 16:1 so they had a lot higher compression that is high even by diesel standards
