In this video I show you how to replace the fuel pump on an E36 using my 1992 Alpina B2.5 which is based on a 325i. That said, this process will apply to almost all E36 models.

Very useful, am about to undertake the same process tomorrow morning, this was great prep. Already had a look under the back seat to check the pump configuration and can confirm it is a real ***$&&# to get that seat fully clipped back in !

Hi Steve, thanks for taking the time to comment and glad the video was useful. And yes, I agree, that rear bench is a real pain! Hope the job worked out well for you.

Appears there maybe a difference between early and late model E36’s as you have flow and return pipes and my 97 328i has only flow or maybe yours is peculiar to Alpina either way had me head scratching 🤷🏻‍♂

That is interesting. Definitely not an Alpina thing, the engine modifications were quite limited and didn't cover the fuel delivery system.

How many miles did your original fuel pump have?

Assuming the one I pulled out was the original one, then it had done 131k miles. It was still working, but was super noisy.

Hi, would you know if this would be the same fuel pump for a 95 318i saloon? Cheers

Hi, I don't know if it's the same pump but the process of changing it is almost certainly going to be the same. Regarding getting the part number, the process I use is to look on RealOEM for the BMW part number, put that in to AutoDoc website to get OE supplier part number and then once you have that find the best place to buy it. Sometimes for me that is Autodoc but most recently it has been Amazon. Good luck.

Yes, that's the one. Almost everything I've bought for my E36 (that hasn't come via my dealer) has come from Amazon EU and it takes a few days to make it to the UK unfortunately.

Hello. Iv been following your videos on the b2.5 and others. Fantastic videos and very informative. Could I ask please a few questions on the b2.5. I was wondering if you could help me with the stock ride height. In mm. From front and rear wheel arch to floor in centre and sill to floor front and rear at the very ends of sills to floor in mm. ? Regards mark

Hi Mark, no problem I'll get the tape measure out later and pass them through. Bear in mind that for the B2.5 there were two suspension options. If the base car had BMW's Sport suspension option then that was deemed sufficient by Alpina for the conversion. If the base car didn't have Sport suspension then an Alpina suspension kit would be fitted as part of the B2.5 upgrade and that is different. Mine is a BMW "Sport" suspension car.

@@MostlyHelpful fantastic thank you so much. Yes I’m thinking mines the sport suspension as it has the 26mm front Amd 19mm rear sway bars fitted
