BMW E39 530d gearbox(torque converter clutch ?) problem 

The problem is now fixed and the transmission runs great. The issue is gone after recycling/repairing the torque converter.

I might have a fix for this. Had same problem. But I had been driving around with this problem for about a year. I noticed that rpm when shifting was getting pretty high (about 4k rpm). Opened up a gearbox from down. Oil filter o-rings were old and oil filter had fallen down. Gearbox is getting oil trough oil sump, oil filter to clutch torque converter. So in my case I did replace old filter but it was just too late. Torque after filter and oil change got better just about 30%. Hope that it will help anybody.

may well be your torque converter but more likely just needs a lub flush and refilled, filters etc good check too - maybe even drop the gearbox oil pan to check for metal consumption.

This is after gearbox oil and filter change, so it's not the oil. I have not fixed the problem yet. I'm driving it like this but I haven't noticed to be getting worse and I know the fix is going to be costly (probably new or recycled TC) so I'm deferring the repair for now.

Has a only solenoid problem or through to converter? I have the issue :(

my '01 got 425k on the clock and I don't remember having that problem, but did you fix it? And if so, how did you fix it? I think a new gearbox might have been the best solution, right? :P

Was your car remapped? I know this can happen normally anyways because the GM auto gearbox in e39 m57d30s is only rated for 340 nm of torque, not 410nm😅

Could be low ATF.... I would highly recommend a filter change and an ATF flush

The problem comes after 200,000 km.The electronics weigh in the gearbox.The solution is:only ATF 7045 i TEXASO AND stop sleep automatic gearbox LUCAS.

hi could you leave me your email address I would have a problem with bmw 120d with error p0741 where it says converter exclusion clutch incorrectly disengaged. this problem is similar to yours but I find it only when I am at a constant speed ... I hear a noise like stac and then if I leave the accelerator the revs go down if I try to accelerate it becomes the same as the old American gearboxes .. could it be the converter? ?
