BMW E39 M5: Fuel System Exploration 

Wow, that's lots of parts. Nobody (except me) it seems spends a few hours under their car each year hunting and killing rust. My E38 vent lines were one of the first things to show rust. I managed to save them along with all the pipes etc. I use a combination of a rust removing sprey and copper antisieze compound on anything that shows any rust. It almost does not matter how you choose to treat the rust it's getting under there on a regular basis.

hi thanks so much for this video. on my m5 I was told the tank has to come down to replace part 7. the vent. is this correct because I think you said the tank can stay for this line?

Glad most of my fuel things were replaced a year or two before I bought my 540. 😁

Are the ujoints not serviceable? Like cant you just replace the ujoint and reuse the drive shaft?

I get 22.5 /100km. On my e39 525I 2004 m-sport why wil cause such a high fuel consumption

Can't you just snake the fuel line through to the fuel pump instead of taking out the fuel tank?
