The starafoam witch you have not replaced is there for a very good reason. .... it is to provide protection for your knees and legs in the event of a accident to stop the steering column smashing your lower limbs
how tf is that weight reduction to remove stryafoam, my god all you kids keep saying weight reduction on every little thing, in that case you should remove your turn signals, dont use em anyway right?
This is EXACTLY what happen with my 2001 740i as i was driving to work the steering column bounced up and down and went back to the adjust position then the air bag light come on and stayed steady and when i wanted to honk ,No horn and the skipping button for the cd stop working as well as the volume button.
Was your turn signal release working prior to the replacement? Because I'm told I need a new clock spring however my turn signal release is functioning properly and my horn is not.

I have an E38 and my horn/buttons work but my steering wheel clicks and also locks on start up and sometimes while driving. A quick jiggle loosens it but hopefully the clock spring is the answer. do you know if this issue being connected to the clock spring?
