Headlight washers weren't standard in Europe. You could order them stand-alone, as part of some Editions or you got them with Xenon, as this is required by law in some European countries. PDC was an option for around 400 Euros, but is indeed very common, at least in Germany.

A few thoughts: - I believe that while we (EU) have W5W lightbulbs in our headlights, located at the top of the highbeams, you guys may not have them. - At least in my country headlight washers were mandatory when the car had xenons as an option. Headlight washers are rarer with non xenons, in my experience. Auto leveling was mandatory with xenon as well. Not sure about this, but all E46's I've seen in my country with xenon, they had bi-xenon. Although not always enabled. - Oddly enough most e46's I've driven in Europe didn't have PDC at all, it may be a lower trim specific thing or specific to my country. Drove one with front PDC which was pretty amazing. I planned on retrofitting that but ended up going with a rear camera install - I'm under the impression that manual rear windows are a rarity (assuming they were available at all) in US e46's. They were available (heh) on lower trim EU cars (such as my touring. Hoping to retrofit them into mine, not many tutorials online) - Did US cars had lumbar support as an option? Haven't seem many people talking about this, I assume they all have it - We (EU) do have rear foglights (I didn't know they aren't a normal thing in the US), usually only on the driver's side. I've found the electric install is always there, but the actual bulb holder has a blanking plate, at least on the touring. You guys could really retrofit both by ordering a driver's side holder EU spec + one driver's side holder UK spec - There were far more than 2 options for center console trays. Mine came with two inserts, one for cupholders + another for a tiny cubby with a coin holder insert. Just replaced my cupholders with a tray with the rolling shutter; it'll still hold drinks. I'm baffled US cars didn't get the cubby next the steering wheel, it's super useful. Also makes it for quick access to install the cruise control retrofit wiring - Don't see it mentioned often so I'm not sure if it was an option in the US, but some EU e46's came with a skibag between the rear sits (if someone knows how to get it out, please let me know. I'd rather have an opening to the trunk, instead of having to fold rear seats to transport bigger cargo) - Tourings seem to always have come here with the roof racks, there was a trim option without them. - EU clear side markers were an option. Seems to have been more common on facelift versions - Was a factory removable tow hitch an option in the US? Cars with those came with the electrical plug for the trailer as well. At least on tourings with the factory tow package, the rear bumper had a removable panel the center, to make space for people to slide in the tow hitch/attachment (my English vocabulary is failing me on these).

Hi Evan! In Europe there is the model BMW E 46 316i 1.8 engine code N42B18 115 hp and the model 318i 2.0 engine code n42b20a 143hp 4-cylinder engines equipped with the variable distribution system Valvetronic. Good luck in your presentations!

Europe had a clubsport version of the non-M E46s which saves 20 kgs over standard supposedly through getting rid of sound deadening. They also came in BMW individual colors, Estoril blue or Velvet blue. SMGs were offered for non-M cars too in Europe. As I understand it, customers could order ZHPs with SMGs from BMW in America but BMW never fulfilled any of those orders for some reason. Stripper models came with black door handles and door mirrors in Europe as well. Europe did offer a CS version of the M3 to bridge the gap between the standard M3 and CSL. It had the CSL steering rack, more aggressive suspension, the CSL smg update and CSL wheels too.

As far as I'm aware, headlight washers were not standard on European models. Lots of E46's here in UK don't have them. Mine is an E46 330ci Clubsport. I imagine you don't get the Clubsport model in the US either. There's only around 500 in the UK. Check out my channel to see it. It's basically the model between the standard 330Ci and the M3. Same performance as the 330ci but with all the MSport trim and Style 71 wheels with factory rear spoiler. Also comes with 'Clubsport' kickplates.

One Euro option I want is the parking heater. For northern locals that would be really nice to have. The parking heater will preheat the engine and interior as well as defrost the windows all via remote control. The parking heater will also maintain a warm car while parked after driving.

As rear foglights go, mine has one on the driver's side (it's a EU spec 46). I'm fitting the other one and although you can make it work by knocking out/drilling the plate, I find it easier to order a UK driver's side foglight holder. They're super cheap, and plug right in. Wiring's there already, like you said.

So you don't have to put up a triangle when your on the side of the road? Accident or just car troubles your obliged to put the triangle 30 meters behind. 70% of the e46's in Europe are 320d.

I think the Euro radio settings just refers to the fact the frequency bandwidth is different in each country, in the Avin Avant 4 setup menu you can change it based on region.

1) TV on navigation screen was a euro-only option. I bought a TV tuner unit on eBay shortly after I got my E46. Connect one wiring harness, and boom: Television is now an option in the Nav menu. Very cool until they killed analog broadcasting. 2) 330i/330d Wagon (we only got the 323/325 wagon) 3) Some models had power front windows, but manual rear windows. I never understood the logic, but I suppose it saves a few bucks. 4) E46 compact model (2-dr plus hatch, different headlight design, different door panels, cost-reduced overall), 5) significantly different exterior colors and interior textile options- for example, cloth seating was never available in the US (aside from ZHP alcantara seats), only vinyl and leather. 6) just a note- Park Distance Control WAS an option here. My ‘03 ZHP has it, from the factory. I believe it was standard on M3 (+others?) convertibles, due to poor rear visibility.

I find it funny that people in the US hate the orange sidemarkers, some people retrofit them or we code something called US-Style where the turn signals are always on (not blinking, just on) and it's illegal. The headlight washer is a must if your car has xenon. Other different thing would be the rear turn signals, in the EU they are orange and if Im sure in the US they are red.

Diesel was available for 320, 325 and 330 if I remember correctly. Petrol engines from 98 and 99 were Euro2 (M52), while M54 were Euro3 (2000) and Euro4(2001-2005).
