My own Clubsport/GT3 inspired heavily modified BMW E46 M3. Is the E46 M3 still the M3 to have? We take a look at the specifics on this car, how it drives/feels and the general faults that plague ALL BMW E46 M3's. Enjoy.
Bloody hell, what a car 🤤I've been dailying a 330ci for 2 years and I look forward to going to work every day, just because I get to drive my car. If I had an M3 I'd probably just live in it full time... 🤣
What a great video, try and get the CSL front bumper; it will finish off a great look 👍. I have an E36 M3 Evo with a similar setup but no cage or short shift (dont want to butcher my full leather dash). I have Cobra Nogaro leather seats, Brey Kraus seat brackets, fully poly bushed, a blue printed race engine, coil overs etc, and fully restored running gear and BMW respray. Both the E36 and E46 are great cars and handle brilliantly with correctly setup geometry. Just point the thing and floor it. What a feeling and great drive these cars give. As stated, they both have their faults, but well-sorted cars give you a drive you wont get from a new car.
Well put Mark, Sounds like a well sorted car. I can’t say I’d recommend a short shifter like my own as they’re a bit harsh feeling but BMW shifters aren’t great from factory either so a good middle would be ideal. I had a 328i E36 a number of years ago, not a patch on the M3 I’m sure but it was a great car itself and the E36 looks are hard to beat.
Awesome vid. Trust me on this one: toss the poly rtab bushings and throw in uniball. Poly makes the rear trailing arm act funny. This is a well known issue
I have CSL headers, custom section 1 vibrant, section 2 oem with the supersprint street muffler. I removed the supersprint and installed the OEM muffler. It’s SO much better now
Definitely a fav ,, still love the 36 but 46 came more solid or rigid as a factory package and the e90 is starting to look pretty decent depending on what you do to it I heard it has more power from factory and it’s definitely wider but all of them have unlimited potential with all the mix and match options available it’s just that age old question how much money do you want to spend? and when is enough enough ? 🚀 lol to infinity and beyond
Personally for me the car with standard csl alloys and the airbox is absolutely perfect. Modified to this level is probably not for everyone, the guy from Stone automotive channel has probably the perfect car visually bar the smg part.
Hi Rab, No, it’s possibly not everyone’s cup of tea but variety is good! His car is excellent, it’s effectively an exact CSL replica externally which for me is one of the best looking cars ever.
@@chrisgarage8023 Chris you’ve probably heard this a bit and not sure if you have the parts, would it not be sensible financially at least to put back to “semi standard” and sell off the after market stuff?
I have almost everything to return to stock, it would just require time but you’re 100% correct that it would be more financially beneficial to return close to stock and sell the parts but it would be a shame to split up such a good car.
@@chrisgarage8023 If doesn’t shift in 4 weeks and we are coming in to the better weather it’s a great option to have. I’m local to you have the same car csl wheels/colour etc manual, so kind speaking from experience and what I feel I’d be looking for if I was in the market.
@@chrisgarage8023 was my pride and joy mate. Was a lot more standard back then, with a few choice mods. looks great now in its club sport guise! Something I always toyed with but never had the bottle to do!
Lovely cars. Really don’t like the front lip on this one. Too aftermarket looking. Split lip or stock nicer. I must get a carbon air box on mine though. Currently having my bushes done and rear floor support plates.
Hey Chris. Basically I am in a similar situation as you with my r33 gtr. I did a full build on mine and I am looking to see to possibly get rid of it for an m3. Do you regret getting rid of your r32?
Hi mate, Not even slightly. The M3 is a far better car to drive in every situation - other than straight line blasts with turbo noises. Lol. There’s always a concern with the engine or rust on the GTRs but in the end, I had similar feelings with the M3 so have since sold it. The GTR is a more special car to own and drive, it the M3 is better to drive. So it depends on your plans for it.
@@chrisgarage8023 I think its just a curse with these old cars. I am in the same boat with worrying about rust and the work that I would have to do to mitigate it. The plan for the m3 is to be a stockish car that I would use 3-4 days a week. I dont even take my GTR out once a week at this point lol. I appreciate the input!
@@sharduljagtap6521 The size is perfect. I'm not a small person, 6'3 230lbs, the e46 feels like it was made for me. The e92 feels too big inside, maybe if it was an e90 I feel different. My daily is a b8.5 S4 and I feel more at home in that car than I do in the e92.
