make sure that the front locks are fully unlocked the tension will stop it if its not fully unlocked . use the key under the back seat on top of the cable motor there is a spot to use it in the middle overhead cowl . fully unlock the hooks . if that dosent work check ur harness they love to break at the bends in the top not letting the cowl hall effect sensor read correctly
Hi you seem to know a lot about soft tops , I have a mini copper by BMW and the roof has never gone down since I brought it a few weeks ago it’s a 2 generation Mini but I really want to fix it and I know I have a lot off work to do i am constantly trying to find someone that knows about it but no seems to unless I go to BMW and they charge crazy money 😮
I just fix mine two days ago it wasn't opening all the way and what i found is the my gear plastic motor is rounded already my solution: I cut a piece of wire that fits un between the plastic and the metal parts that turns the motor like a spacer walla it works like a charm!!! Hope this will help.
@@bigbill74scots I have an e46, it has hydraulics, just took it all apart and cleaned out the tank, refilled with new oil and now it works like supposed to. Front latches had to be rebuilt as well. lots of work
@@brendandabney5680 not that bad, I've only done it a few times with another person, but I think it's definitely possible with just one person doing it.
@@brendandabney5680when mine broke I found it pretty difficult to put the top down manually. You have to lock the latch with an Allen key too which is annoying. And getting the top up with one hand is tough.
