BMW E60 grille install | Newer double line grille vs older style - E60 M5

I've seen a few M5s on Instagram with the newer style grille and figured I would give it a shot. The tools needed for this install are:
- T30 Torx bit
- Flat head screwdriver
You can find these grilles on eBay or Amazon. There are different names for them like: double line, dual slat, twin fins, double rib. Just search one of these and they should all pop up.

Just did my grills, thank you for the video. I would recommend vacuuming anything that's caught right in front of the radiator while you have the grills out. The previous owner had the car parked outside underneath a pine tree for a while and there were a few needles stuffed in there. You definitely need to finesse the grills off, it helps to have two people but I managed by myself, you need to keep pressure on the grill as you're pulling it out while you press the tabs with the other hand. Man does it suck, but it gets it done.

Both look nice, but I prefer and I have the single spoke grill in high gloss black. Now I want to paint the lower grill and the air ducts in the lower part of the front bumper as well in gloss black. Gr. HenryGeorge_M5

I think the newer style suits black e60’s only. Any other colour go for black single slat kidney grilles.

It does give it a better look. I swapped mine out about 3 months ago. I replaced my back lights, side markers into sequential ones. Installed a new android head unit! My next mods are: coilovers,wrap ! Where did you get your sweatshirt?

Nice! I have debated going the coilover route but surprisingly it rides pretty well being on lowering springs, in my opinion. Coilovers will always be the better choice though. I got it custom made off one of those websites that allow you to make your own designs on clothing. Unfortunately I can’t remember the website because it was a gift

Nice video, I am really considering purchasing this model year because it is truly a dream car of mine since 2006 or so..... I have seen them priced from 15-25k. Some people say that I am a fool to want this particular model especially because of the maintenance costs and possible rod bearing issues as well..... How is your model holding up with all of the horror stories associated with this generation? Thanx again.......

Sorry man I know this is 2 years late but I was replying to another comment and just saw this and replying in case anyone sees this in the future. I still have the car... Just hit 145k miles, 60k miles of ownership. There’s no doubt that maintenance costs are more than a traditional sports car but you have to factor the exclusivity and unique sound you get with the V10. To me it’s worth it. I preventatively replaced the rod bearings at 115k and they had minimal wear and mechanically everything has been great. I am still on original throttle actuators and vanos, oil cooler, etc and all the other things you commonly hear people afraid of. Buying one from someone that took care of it is key.

Subscribed bro! The hump is just a fiberglass piece that bonds to the original hood. It’s from a company in the UK called Xclusive Customz... it was a lot of work and don’t really recommend it.
