I do have the exact same problem since a week now. Contrary to your situation, everything is working fine - rear wiper perfectly fine, water is pumped well. In rest identical, soft close doesn’t react, respectively interior lights do not turn off and the alarm continuously blinking. While checking (unwrapping the tailgate plastics), mechanisms work quiet well. Lock is reacting fine, soft close mechanism is also working. What does bring doubts in my situation is the fact that, while holding the tailgate open and pressing the open button - the soft close latch does a 360 degrees turn. Obviously, the mechanism is in good condition and it works. It is only stuck in open position and doesn’t recognize the “closed” position. Therefore, at this exact moment I do think whether it is the solenoids in the lock which are broken and I have to change the lock, or it will be solved as easy as in your case, with a relay swap (as I also found enough moisture traces in the relay and computer blocks compartment). I still think what should I do tomorrow, try first with a different lock (found on dismantling) or give it a chance to new relays. Will leave my solution when done. Until then, useful information for you: 1) Tailgate lock part# 7197081 (or long version as on the part UK 7197081-01 2) Relay part#: - Red ones 1742 690 (long 12.63-1 742 690) - Green one 8 373 700 (long 61.36-8 373 700)

What "special" solution did you use for cleaning out water damage?

My one shut , soft closed good, but when you need open, only half way , open only manually from inside, any one have same issue?

I have 100% exactly the same problem. To be precise i don't have power at all on that bottom lock no 12v at all. That pin doesn't turn when the boot is closed (there is a switch inside which tells to the car that boot is closed) I have open boot warning and cant open glass. Can you just tell me this was this soft lock 67107114613 working at all in your case? (before Relay swap?)

Hey. Question about the adjustment of the left and right alignment. Fhere are to aparently screus on the sides which i belive act like stopers for the lid. Mines are not turning in and out. Any tips on how to adjust these? Miy left side is more towards the rear than the right side

This was a problem for me too. I wish I was started with those relays (wich actually was the fault). I started with tailgate wiring. Rewired some of the wires, because some of them was actually damaged. After a lot of mess, there was no result. Thanks to this video, problem is solved. Thumbs up for this guy!

Great video. I have this problem, with the boot lid sticking out on the left side of the car just like yours, but all my relays work. What else can I try?

Thank you for your contribution to the community. Was the trunk lid working before changing the relays? My boot lid does not open automatically and I have to raise it by hand, but once up it does lower automatically. If during the way down I interrupt it by pressing the button, it stops and if I press it again, it goes up, but never goes up from the closed position. Any ideas? Thanks again @Elite Bimmers

Great video - just have one question. How did you code the option to close the trunk via the key fob? There are option in the HKL module which I coded in but it doesn’t work.. I see you pressed long to open and pressed once to close - that’s what I’m after but can’t seem to find the correct option to code. Thank you!!!

Have you experienced issues with the hydraulic mechanism itself? Mine cannot initially lift the tailgate so I have to help it a bit to lift it.
