Fantastic video. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find information on my 65plate 330d x-drive M-sport. I was wanting to put proper M rotors on my car but this has saved me an embarrassing mistake. Also explaining how 2 piece rotors are way better as less likely to warp. Might still try the M-pads in my 370mm front and back calipers. Thank you so much and I can't wait to check out your channels content.

Hello, first of all thank you for this fantastic video, it helps a lot in differentiating the types of brakes. Question, I have a 120i F20 year 2017 with normal brakes, and I bought the brembo M brakes of a 140i, 340mm / 345mm, everything was installed correctly, the only detail is that the handbrake does not work, due to the dimension of the center of the disk. My question is that it is very likely that I will have to replace the stump of my vehicle with another model, will the stump of a 335i F30 work? I have a friend who offers me these answers, I look forward to an answer, thank you very much!
@vysgarage
@vysgarage 3 года назад
Hello, There are two different types of rear 345mm discs, small handle version and large handbrake version. You just need the small handbrake version discs for your car. Part numbers: Rear 345mm smooth (160) 34206797605 Rear 345mm grooved (160) 34206797598 It sounds like your brakes are from 3/4 series, not m140i. Message me directly if you need any more help. Awesome video. Question: I have a 2018 M2 and I'm currently buying maintenance parts to have when the time comes to replacing them. Rock Auto has the single piece rotors for pretty cheap. You suggest staying away from these? FCP Euro has a full set of rotors and pads(OEM 2 piece equivalent) for $1700 while the rockauto set (1 piece rotor) is around $400. This is a daily and I do not track my car.
@vysgarage
@vysgarage 3 месяца назад
One pice rotors are heavier so you will increase unsprung weight, secondly they are not floating unlike 2 piece M rotors so there is a risk of distortion under extreme heat. But for daily use I’d give it a shot, just make sure they have warranty. Most importantly, get genuine m pads, they make all the difference 👍🏻

@vysgarage
@vysgarage 3 года назад
There is another video on my Chanel about e92 m3. You can use f rear calipers (44mm type) with F8x rear discs (370mm) and it’s pretty much a direct bolt on, you’ll just need to trim the back plates and few m12 washers to centre the calipers across the discs. On the front you need to change the spindles to F8x in order to use F8x brakes, alternatively you can use g calipers that are an easy bolt in solution. Thanks

@vysgarage

Hi, Yes, to run m discs on e82 you will need adapters. Calipers will also sit further outboard which increases your chances of needing wheel spacers.
@GrahamsGarage
@GrahamsGarage 3 года назад
@@vysgarage thank you for the quick reply! Im hoping to use “seemslegitgarage” adapters, unless you’d recommend something else. They should be selling the rear caliper adapters for non m hubs soon. Just a side note, I have a full set of fairly new e92 m3 rotors, is there a way to use these instead, making the install cheaper for me?
@vysgarage
@vysgarage 3 года назад
Why don’t you just use 370mm and 345mm rotors? The rotor thickness is the same, pad contact is the same, they are still two piece, they are much cheaper, they don’t need adapters and they fit a lot better. To run m rotors on the rear, you will need to remove significant amount of material from the rear calipers which I don’t recommend.
@GrahamsGarage
@GrahamsGarage 3 года назад
@@vysgarage id like to avoid permanent modification if possible, thank you for the suggestion. Excuse my ignorance but I’m assuming the 135i rear rotor has the smaller hand brake, so will the 345mm rear rotor make the install easier for that reason as well? I will likely use your recommendation of 370mm front & 345 rear with additional brake ducting. Would you recommend f series brake backing plates or a brake duct hose dumping air on the back of the front rotors? Looks like I’ll be saving a couple hundred bucks, thanks to you!
@vysgarage
@vysgarage 3 года назад
135i will have the large handbrake so the install is easy, you just need a set or rear Caliper bushings/adapters which I have available. If you’re taking the car on track and need to improve cooling, ducting is the only way to get a real benefit. But I must say that significant amount of braking performance comes from good pads such as rs29.

@@vysgarage With the 340 mm type calipers you can use the 348 mm E92 335i rotors, have that set up on my E92 335i. Rear is another story, I use e60 345 mm rotors due to the more suitable offset unless you make a custom bracket.

Hello, I’m back again! I was wondering if you could help me. I have a 2014 435i M Sport, unpainted Brembo’s up front and (ugly) Bosch brakes in the back. I would like to get the 2 piston Brembo’s for my rears, 345mm and I see quite a few on eBay but most of the time they don’t have detailed descriptions so I have no idea if they’re compatible. Can you tell me what I should look for so I can put together a list to complete this conversion, please? Or even better, if you have a website and you sell them I can purchase from you? I’m just nervous about spending hundreds on parts and it being completely wrong. Thanks so much!

I have a 340i with the blue brembo’s (370mm fronts) I want to change my rear brake setup to the smaller f3x brakes (328i) so I can run a 17” wheel for the drag strip. If I buy the rear rotor & caliper from an f3x 328i will that be a direct fit onto my car?

Yes, they will fit straight on. They should be 320mm...

Question for you, so if i have the 340mm caliper version but want to upgrade to the 370mm rotors instead of having to buy new calipers can you machine an adapter bracket that basically just extends the mounting points out a little further so they are at the same distance as the 370/380 calipers mounting ears?

Hi No you can’t because The Caliper are lug mounted. If they were radial mounted then you could just space them out.

Hi, 380mm m discs are not a direct fit on non-m car, it’s best to just use 370mm discs. If you want to use m discs, you need adapters and m discs are also twice the price yet you’re only gaining 5mm in radius. It’s not worth it in my opinion.

Tell me about the rear bolts. I bought a used blue rear caliper labeled P2.44. I plan to install it on my F31. I am at a loss about the part number of the bolt that attaches the caliper. This video says M12, but do you know the part number? From what I have researched, rear calipers such as M3 use 34106864424 (M12 x 1,5 x 43 ZNS3), but the optional M performance is 34203414763 with M10 x 26,5 bolts. Also, the M sports brake is 34206850536 (M12 x 1,5 x 32 ZNS3), which one should I choose?

Hi, So currently you have 330mm rear discs with single piston calipers. You could upgrade just the rear discs to 345mm and calipers to 2-piston and spray the front calipers to match. If you want to also upgrade the fronts, you can go for 370mm discs and calipers but there is very little difference to your current 340mm setup. Pm me though Facebook if you need more help 👍🏻
