BMW F900R | Value for money?

Good review. Yeah , what's a "middle weight" or "heavy weight" these days ? Once upon a time when I was a young child (mid 1970s), 750 to 900 cc was a BIG bike, 500 middle weight, 250cc light weight. Assuming a 1300 cc KTM Super Duke is now "heavy weight" ( but it's not really that heavy for its engine size! ) and a 400cc A2 bike is lightweight, I guess 600 to 900cc is "middle weight" . The Rocket 3 and it's like I guess is in "monster weight". IoM TT, the 600cc bikes are apparently "light weight" ! Yeah , I'm confused. Nice bike, although it doesn't really "grab" me looking at it. The BMW S1000R is the beemer that "grabs" me, especially if they sort out it's asymmetrical headlights (as they are rumoured to be doing)

It's a bike you can like and see lots of sense in but I don't think it's a bike you could love and open the garage door just to look at. As pcp transport it's hard to fault. As a buy with your own money pride and joy, it's not cutting it. I've never owned a bike with any electronics, so ABS and traction control would be plenty enough for me!

As fun as this BMW may be I wouldn't go for it. A fun cheep do it all bike with all the electronics ones needs is out there Suzuki GSX-S750. A proper midle capacity naked 900cc is a bit to big to be called middle capacity. It's the Swiss army knife of motorcycles. Track day you can touring why not commuting everyday plus it's cheep and cheerful and it will last forever and insurance and maintenance will be cheeper then the BMW. But some people wil prefer the BMW badge and that is fine by me :)

Not great value for money compared to a z900 mt09. In the USA these are all at the dealers for street triple r money. Made in China, endless bmw option packages won’t tempt anyone from their Japanese competition. This bike has no wow factor .

Value for money ? If it was a proper BMW at that price probably yes. But the truth that the Dealerships try to conceal is that this bike come complete with a cheap Chinese parallel twin engine that may or may not stay the test of time. You can add all the gadgetry you like to a machine but true motorcyclist will understand that the heart of a good motorcycle is the engine and with a cheap Chinese rattle box its never going to be the real McCoy. This machine is merely a styling exercise with BMW badge slapped on it to fill a gap in the market that BMW didn't have a place in. They will sell a few to mugs that think this is a BMW motorbike but ultimately this bike will be quietly dropped from their range after they have sat in the showrooms gathering dust. So to answer the question Value for money ? Absolutely not.

All those money for a chinese engine? Nah.
