Hey ladies and gents!
Today we are onboard BMW'S F900 XR, the 895cc parallel twin sports tourer.
Join me on my first ride of this bike to give you a small review and thoughts on it!

Just bought this one. I also have driven the Tracer. Tracer is in my opinion more focused towards touring, while the BMW is just inviting to do all kind of stuff. I also like twins more than triples, because of the grunt low down. Yamaha wins with power, focused touring, and quick shifter. BMW is more fun.

I had the 2020 version was good fun , bought an R 1250R which is awesome but I’m going back to the 9 xr for easier living and better ergonomics for me

This bike also has a dynamic pro mode that you need to enable in the settings.

Had mine since last September and it's my first "big bike". It's very easy to ride and not intimidating (for me anyway). I will say it's quite heavy to handle when moving it around on foot compared to other similar bikes - the Tracer 9 GT feels a lot lighter to me.

Ah nice, I think all BMW’s are easy to ride now… even the 200bhp+ ones! They make very good bikes. I think you’ve made a good choice with the 900xr, especially with a MIVV on it 😏

I agree it’s surprisingly heavy when handling it on foot. I’ve had a F 800 ST (same engine) which was much easier to handle. But on the run, the F 900 is more powerful and more fun. Love it!

Very nice video to watch. Would you recommend this as a first bike? Am pretty big myself, I must say this is an excellent option.

I would, I think this is a very friendly first bike. Parallel twins are nice and light but pack a punch. This is no slouch. Also super comfy!

I'm currently getting my license and from reviews, I'm lookiing at the BMW 900 XR, Suzuki 800DE, but also the KTM 890 Adventure. You mentioned you are coming from a KTM. Do you have any insight to share? :)

I honestly had mostly good experience with KTM, I had a 2018 790 duke, all was great! The only thing which happened on it which I wasn’t too happy with was the screen cracked on the Speedo, I’m not sure when and if it was solved by KTM but it’s an expensive part to replace. I know KTM are aware and have probably addressed this in the later bikes. It was caused by the UV from the sun! I did a review on it a while ago now!

Thinking of getting this...can have it for 12k euros at the dealer...fantastic machine just have to test drive it just judging on the looks :) i have a question tho...some reviews mention the bad rear brake and the terrible gearbox neutral position...people tend to stand with the clutch engaged at every red light...is this true?

I commute 40 miles (60km roughly), would a bike like this be a good way to save on fuel? Would I be better with a “touring” bike for that kinda distance? It’s mostly highway. Currently in a pickup that uses 4 gallons of gas (petrol) to make that trip lol

I think that means you’re doing roughly 12mpg!? Must be a V8 or a juicy engine! The bmw does 4.2 litres per 100 kilometers according to bmw. So you’d save a lot. I’d say adventure/tourer would be a great bike for commuting. I’d personally like a higher CC though like an xr1000 or a GS. But this engine is perfectly fine.

As an owner I can say that this 4.2 liter/100km depends on your right hand..I do the same km to my job every day from highway with road mode and with 100-120km per hour I see about 4.3-4.7 Litre /km. With dynamic mode and same speed per hour I see 4.9-5.2.i prefer dynamic only for the sound and suspension! Hope I help you a bit it's a wonderful bike and much better from tracer if you plan trips often 😉

What abou the ground clearance? I found nothing about this on bmw's site.

@@paulocelso68 actually a tricky question as I can’t seem to find much on what the actual clearance is. I can see websites saying it’s 130mm and some saying 180mm. Either way is better than the average bike but not exactly an adventure bike.
