Get some Heated Grips I have some on my 310 GS and it takes the numbness and loss of sensation out of my fingers and makes the ride even more enjoyable.

Nice ride! Love the PNW. I used to live in North Vancouver (Canada) back in the late 90's- I never should have left! Stellar area for riding, and pretty much anything else. Stuck in southernmost Ontario now, where it's flat and featureless, excepting the agriculture in the county. I'll return someday... Quick question- did you fab the support bracket for your GPS mount? I just ordered a mount from eBay that uses the windscreen mounting points, but has no extra support. I'll be using a Sonim XP8 for my nav, and it weighs nearly 3/4 of a pound! Add the RAM mount and it's certainly going to need something... My "Baby" is now hibernating until spring since they have laid down salt for the minuscule snow we had a couple of weeks back, so I'm looking forward to more vids- Hopefully you can still get some rides in :) Take care, brother! I'm going up to Vancouver later this month. Love that place. only 3.5 hours away. planning a motorcycle ride up there next year. as far as the bracket, I have the bar that attached to the windshield bolts. I had issues with it shaking so much that I did make the supports. I went to home Depot and bought 1/8 th inch aluminum brackets and cut them, bent them on the vise and drilled holes for the screws attaching it to the brackets. it works amazing.
I was pretty sure they were a custom thing- searching high and low, I couldn't find anything on line. It does indeed look pretty solid, especially in your off-pavement vids. Good on ya! Looking at the mount points available on the bike, my only concern was mounting it to the plastics as opposed to the subframe, but there are limited options with the fork clearance being so close. That said, there isn't really that much weight from the GPS to stress anything out in a bad way anyhow. The main mount seems it would take most of the weight. Off to Home Depot it is! Might even have something kicking around in the garage... Ride safe! And thanks for the idea. :) M
just make sure you use stainless steel bolts up top. I got them at a local hardware store. and I mounted the bottoms to the plastics and it has held up great. I utilized the existing screws on the fairing, they are long enough
Love the GPS the way it looks set a perfectly. Which one is it and can I use my phone in place of a dedicated GPS unit? What’s your thoughts on there? Should I just buy the unit also
Hi, I've read so many articles on phones being used as dedicated gps unit. so people use it as that but have damaged their cameras because of the vibration. I personally have had no gps signal when way out in the woods so I bought the dedicated unit. it is a Garmin zumo xt unit. it's wired to the motorcycle and turns on and charges when I turn the Key.
just thought about this. if you have a dedicated gps, you can see phone messages come through the zumo, like texts and when the phone rings. if you have a cardo system like I have you can, answer the phone and listen to music through the gps. it works amazing. I listen to Spotify and I can pause or forward songs through the gps. you can also upload routes ahead of time.
