I rode since I was 16. I am now 63. This bike is perfect for anyone that has realized that you do not have to have 150 hp to have fun and to ride. The BMW G310R is a great bike for any rider that needs an affordable bike, that is cheap to insure, fun to ride and will stand the test of time.
Just picked up a 2022. Love it I'm a big guy, 220lb, and I got my bike up to 92mph. Plenty fast, and grab some nice full finger gloves, you go down you'll thank me

That was a GREAT REVIEW 'My Guy'!!! I been riding bikes since 1985 Legally (LOL)...I'm now 63, and younger and even older new riders always ask me what type of bike should I get? How many cylinders?, How many cc's etc.. I always tell them, it depends on what type of riding you anticipate. Get a racer for the track if you plan on racing or doing well over 100mph. Get a dual sport for the street and wilderness or dirt roads, get a middle weight (600 - 800 cc's) for the street & track blahh, blahh, blahh 🤠
I owned this bike and I still miss it might go get another. As for high speeds it's perfectly safe you gotta stop blaming the bike fast or slow bike someone is still gunna merge into your lane without warning and your bike is not fast enough to compensate for being caught off guard no matter how powerful it is
Good point, being attentive always works but having more power most definitely gives the biker another option for an "escape route". Not a blame to the bike either, I'm giving a review on what I've noticed for my personal riding style.
I have a G310R 2020 and 3 way more powerful bikes, Dude just drop a gear and floor it, that will get you out of trouble. I absolutely love it and drive it on the twist's and highway's. Super comfortable bike. OMG so many pros. the only conn is when I start it cold in the morning it takes several times to stay on. Took it to the dealership they had no fix for this.
Completely with you on the downshift and go. Ofcourse a little one cylinder wont be torquey in 5th gear at such low speed haha. The cold start issues unfortunately plague this bike, thankfully I'm in a climate where its never really THAT cold and the bike is garaged, however as the dealership said, as of now, there is no fix....
great video, & good talking points, i just purchased this bike aprox 3 weeks ago & its been a great starter bike. forgiving, versatile & comfortable. all my friends with naked/sport bikes always mention the comfort.
I got my eye in this bike. I’m not a big motorcycle enthusiast I just want to roll the neighborhood l like you. Plus my wife would have fit if I bought anything more powerful. I’m really surprised at how cheap they are. I mean $5k not a real big deal and if it doesn’t work out I can sell it.
Wow yeah this is the best bike then. I’m telling you.. you’ll become a bike enthusiast after riding this. Everything is so outright perfect, I still miss this bike.
In my country Kosovo,in Europe,this bike is fast enough. It is like buying an 2011 Audi A3 170 HP TDI Sportback. Same power to weight.Same 402m time. So in sense it is enough! Only problem bikes have is highway? Cars are closed and even underpowered cars can easily go in highway compared to bikes. Bikes suffer in aero department! Otherwise are the best allaround.
I went directly to BMW, bought oil(4l), oil filter, air filter, break fluid(1l), coolant(1.4l), spark plug for 200 eu. Dirt cheap OEM parts, if you do the work yourself, its really nothing.
What do you mean that you are "technically" a beginner. Nobody would use "technically" when they are riding for 2 weeks. They would literally be an actual beginner, no "technically"
Ah was thinking in my head, I had the bike longer than I was able to ride it due to being busy etc. So according to time, I felt less of a beginner, but according to practice definitely a beginner.
What really annoys me is that the G310R is constantly referred to as a beginners bike. It is this stereotyping of bikes that will put off more experienced or older riders that may enjoy the G310R.
100% bro, i think it’s the sport bike riders who start on these bikes who have a goal of getting a 1000 one day, who call it a beginners bike. I’m a beginner…who happened to learn on this one lol
I mean its a begginer bike because its that size for carving up an msf course. You dont want to overlook a dmall displacement bike if its a good one. They are useful for different reasons.
This might as well be a podcast. It is not worth being called a video, because, what do we see? Not even your face. You jump onto the bik and start to talk. We see nothing but the instrument panel and your naked arms and gloves. (why are you using gloves if you don't mind protecting your arms?) . Also, what do you have to say? Just some general things.
@@DonsGarage01 yeah those sweat pants, bicycle gloves and hoody will tear up the moment you hit the road. The ER nurse will have to scrub your skin with a cleaning brush to get the stones out.
I rode mine from Luxembourg to Paris (300km more or less) on a highway and it went better than I expected. I added a windshield and wrist rest to help with the tiredness and it definitely helped. Already planning a new road trip to Switzerland and as someone who is just looking for leisure rides and maybe occasional highway top speed, I know it’s enough.
