Hiii Your Video Its Very Help Full I Like it The Only Thing I don’t Understand What You Call Generator When What you are Removing Its The Alternator…?? Thanks For the Video info God Bless
Thank you very much! As for the alternator… lol. English is my second language, in Ukraine language word alternator doesn’t exist) but we have word generator, and for me back then it was pretty much the same as alternator. In any case thanks for the comment!
The one that failed the was original one and the one I install there was knock off from the Amazon but it worked just fine. anyway thank you for the comment!
15V seems okay, my e46 faulty regulator peaked at 18.8V randomly a blew the headlamps all the time, funny thing is computer didn't pick the the anomaly.
Hi hope you can help. I removed my old voltage regulator to put on my other car so I had to buy a new one. I installed the new one and now I have a generator light aka battery light. The serial numbers match the one I took off my car as well. I'm stuck
Thera nothing to do with coding, but if it was working before, just buy the new one, most likely you got the broken part, which happens pretty often. just get the new part from FCP. lifetime warranty and quality parts' and pricing are good.
@@Makhnovets I already bought 2 new and different ones. Both with separate serial numbers one of the numbers being the one that was on the car previously.
@@Makhnovets I've gone thru each step correctly. Bought a couple new ones already. One from fcp too. The new ones have separate serial numbers which is a problem you need to put the correct serial number regulator when replacing it or a generator light will come up. I have purchased the correct one ending in 89 but apparently that won't work either. Both NEW regulators will not fix my generator ilight
Did you check the voltage on the battery? If it's + - 14v means you have something else not related to the alternator. That also could be the IBS, but you would have the check engine for that one, or the code. Also, what codes do you have on OBD?
15 volt is definitely too high...14.8 would start to be a worry (there might be liquid or corrosion on the battery) and 15 volts would be a real concern, but 14.6 is fine. Less than 14.2 or more that 14.8 would be a "weak" alternator or regulator
Yes. You are correct. under 13.4v is under voltage, over 15v is over voltage. both cases are bad, but the over voltage is the worst, since it can toast any module. But the over voltage troubleshooting it's easier then under voltage. 15v+ means you need a new power regulator. 13.4v and lower can be many things: Battery, alternator, power regulator, IBS., B+ terminal.
I have changed the power regulator because car was stopping, under voltage , but now i have the 4A07 alternator communication missing error,i have checked the cable who goes to ECU (1 pin cable) and the voltage is 13,4v lower than the big charging cable (14,3v)who goes to battery , i don't know what is wrong!! My car is e60 2008
I had changed the alternator regulator because my car was stopping (i had all kind of errors on tester) and now i have alternator communication 4A07 (permanent) so the battery is also new the reading is 12,53v standby and 14,11v with engine on …. I don’t know what that error means!!! Probably the battery is not charged smart , she is charging always when the engine is on 🤔
I would remove the alternator and bring it to the autozone, they can tested for free, in that case you will know for sure if it’s working, then will get it from there.
Yes, replace it, i had the same issue, and it happened on the year I had over voltage so I have to wait for 6 days for part and it was little disaster cuz I didn't have a spare car.
15,5 v its too much … overvoltage as the error on insta+ says ….i had changed the regulator and from 15v i have 14,11v but I still got an error: “7a04 alternator communication-permanent “ and now i am searching for a clue 🤔
@@Makhnovets Before the care was stopping because of him because the charging voltage was dropping under 11v ,i was reading alternator loading on my delphi tester but now it’s 0 loading but the voltageis corect now ……someone said when i will fix the alternator to change also the battery and the IBS sensor, the battery was the original bmw one from 2008
Power management should be the power regulator, but also can be the IBS. If the car have over 120k mi I would go for Power regulator, but another code to look for is Under or overvoltage. Good luck!
Agree. But i had conditions, the was two days before new yea, and I was planning to have a trip, so only one that I could order and receive next day, was tis one, so that’s why ))
@@Makhnovets I see...makes sense, since you needed this as a quick and temporary solution. Good luck and I hope you got a genuine Bosch one handy just in case the Chinese one took a crap, and you wanna be ready to swap out on the spot when/if this happens ;-) Cheers.
