BMW has no power, engine won't start! problem solved! Fuse box (junction box) changed. Recall issue! 

Same here it was driving fine one day parked at dollar tree didn’t turn on changed the battery but I get a increase battery discharge and lighting warning

Battery has to be coded after replacing. Junction box and fuse box after replacing must have the jumpers in the same location as the original one otherwise it won't work properly! It won't power all the modules! Maybe for the central locking you have to change the battery in your key fob.

After you remove at least 2 screws you can rotate the fuse box enough to have access to that screw. A little bit tight but is doable

@@WarpDriveM , I think using a 1/4" extension 6" with swivel and T20 will work at a 45 degree angle for the top left screw behind blower. Or, maybe just remove blower ot make access easier.

If you change the electronic module as well and not just the fuse panel then you do.

There is a plastic piece on top of the connector you have to press it towards inside and it will release the cable. It is a little bit hard to do but thats the method

It was cutting all power off and the car wouldn't react to anything...

You can reset the error to see if will come back on. if yes you might check the battery

Normally the fusebox is the same just be sure you have the one for facelift model (from 2010 till 2012) or pre facelift (2005-2010) depends what car you have. Part nr is written on your fusebox. This is part nr for a fusebox facelift model 61149119445. Check jumpers and everything when you make the swap

All your errors are most likely because of your battery. You have to check the battery and after that to start changing parts. I'm pretty sure that the battery is faulty

@@WarpDriveM Thanks -- Pretty certain 99%, the battery caused these issues. But (too bad) a new batt did not fix. $80 JBE arriving today and going to let my local BMW mech install since he has the computer tablet to code it to my vin... Not sure if installing first, then driving it over to get coded is a good idea? Does the JBE need to be "IMMEDIATELY" coded? Hard for intermediate DIY'er to predict any possible trouble doing that.

If you are replacing just the fuse box itself and reuse the junction box you don't need to reprogram anything but if you are replacing the junction box as well that needs to be coded

You are 100% correct! But at that time there was no recall. I've sold the car and I've bought another 3 series a gas one and it was done as recall problem. On diesel models just from this year will be done as recall problem....

Last weekend, same happened to me. Whole engine cut off electricity while driving. I even could not turn the hazard lights on. I was on motorway doing around 50mph. It was so difficult moment, and the electricity come back after 2-3 seconds. I took the car to BMW Sytner in Leicester, and wanted them to have a look to connection. They had a quick look, and told me it looks fine... However, now I do not feel safe. BMW did change no part, and told me everything looks fine. I could have also passed away when the electricity shut down. I think BMW recall should have also included replacement of the fuse-box, not only the cable! I am currently preparing for enough evidence to take a legal action if this fault turns out to it is caused by same fault. My cars doing this too and despite what my boyfriend says I think it's from this recall I drive the car daily and I am more familiar with how it's doing and it's not the battery like he says..I stay this bc it's almost like there is a wire loose and it's only done this twice but both times he jumped it off and both times it didn't seem to be working when he jumped it off until he wiggled the cable then it just lit up I am a girl and most girls aren't good with cars I'm no exception but I'm not dumbass either and I have a feeling it's not the battery

The battery cable is a recall for all e90. You can check online if your car has an open recall or not. Google bmw recall put your vin nr in there and you can see if there is an open recall on your car.

Check if you put everything the same in the new fuse box as in the old one including the jumpers

Obd has a fuse as well. Check the fuse and when obd is not responding usually is the FRM module bad

If is already broken it doesn't matter...but normally battery should be disconnected always when working on electrical parts.

I've moved the fuse block till the car received power and I'ved opened it Normaly. If you have the pre facelift model you will have a lock to put the key in on the right side near the release button

This was 2010 model year, you are right a out the recall but sadly not in Europe

Just try to shake the fuse box or check cables on the battery!

Warp Drive M actually Due to rubbing of rats, the water was submerged under the fuse junction box

@@WarpDriveM ended up being my eccentric crank sensor. 256k miles and still a fun car to drive.

For fuse box no coding required but if you replace the junction box sometimes you need to do some coding if the new junction box came from a car with different options

Ich habe nur die Sicherungskaste gewechselt. Dafür muss man nicht neu programmieren lassen. "junction box " steuergerät müsste programmiert werden wegen ausstattung... richtig aufpassen bei Sicherungskasten das jeden Teil genau wie früher ist und auch die "jumpers" Brücke Verbindung genau sind. Ich war mit meinem Fahrzeug bei BMW. Die haben das checken lassen und meinten, dass mein Fahrzeug davon nicht betroffen ist. Die haben auch an dem Kabel gerüttelt. Und der Wagen ist nicht ausgegangen. Letztenendes war die Batterie defekt, weil die schon zu Alt war. Die wollten allein für die Diagnose 90€. Abzocker. Aber das war jetzt mein letzter BMW. Ich Wechsel zu Mercedes.

The difference is, if you shake the 12v cable behind the glovebox and everything works, it is not an ISM module, it can also be IBS on the battery though, but then you have totally no power.

@@Seredinh is the 12v cable connector faulty!!! I have ripped the glovebox fuse box too and saw irreplaceable fuse and some small relays. I have posted it's video, I don't know if it will help out or not.

@@bimmerhacks I believe I also have the same issue now. Sometimes the car can go for days without problem, sometimes I totally have no electricity.

The car has keyless go/entry. I don't need to use the key. You just have to have it in the car. You can pit it in the slot as well...

In Europe we didn't have recall for this. Recently I've bought another e90 328i from US and for that they've done it. So just the US market can do this faulty cable through recall.

I think because we have different options on the cars and different engines and for that the cables are different routed. And the percent of the faulty cars is way smaller the in the US market. Just my opinion....

The fuse box. But the main problem was the positive cable that came from the battery. Now it's a recall from BMW. If you have this problem you can call your bmw dealership to see if they are gonna fix this for you (free).

That seems to be a wire problem. You have to check the wires between the firewall and the engine. There should be a metal holder. If that is gone it might be that your wires are burned from the exhaust
